I borrowed The Legend of Spyro: Dawn of the Dragon -game from my friend and oh, the nostalgia. Though i haven't been much into video games during the past few years, i really enjoyed the Spyro games when i was a kid. Oh, the misery of mine and my older brother when our 60kg dog stepped on our Playstation 1 and broke it, ha ha. It's nice to play it again.
I kinda mixed his varying designs together and added my own imagination a little here and there, but hopefully Spyro's still recognizable!

Oh yeah, and to think, it was only recently I was able to completely finish the first three Spyro games, all in a row, that first came out on the PlayStation. (Thank you PlayStation Store! )
I was never sure what went wrong with my third and final game but I believe it continually refused to save properly, forcing me to restart from another point way further back in the game. So many hours lost, such a crime...
But before I completely lose track of why I'm here thanks to those good memories, I've gotta take a look at this little piece. Needless to say, comparing Spyro from the PS1 to your drawing must mean he has grown up and has become an even fiercer defender of his home world than ever before.
It seemed only yesterday he was running around as a young dragon toasting Gnasty Gnorc, whooping Ripto's magical backside and putting the Sorceress to sleep, and now his growth, combined with his experience, makes him a real ferocious force to be reckoned with. And I believe your design reflects that ferocity, that experience and everything else that has made Spyro a classic mascot of early video games, and possibly beyond that as well.
That angry stare, the flames breathing out his mouth, those wings curled back and that long, pointy tail ready to cut and tear into his enemies... It all works together to create a wonderful adult rendition of every gamer's favourite dragon. From a fellow fan of Spyro to another, allow me to say thank you for bringing back those wonderful memories, of playing a hard yet rewarding platformer that set such a high standard. Keep up the splendid work!

Some people actually hated that The Legend of Spyro series because of the remodeling. People HATED that Spyro, so they also hated the games.
And Dawn of the Dragon got a low score JUST BECAUSE THE GRAPHICS WERE SO DAMN GOOD THAT THE REVIEWERS EASILY GOT LOST IN THE GAME. Stupid, right?
Anyway, I watched gameplay of those game. They're GREAT, I must say, so boo-boo to the haters.

Man, that's awful to hear. Before i submitted this drawing, i actually did some research about the Spyro and its fandom. I was surprised how much hating i saw.

Those are some formidable lighting effects! Also, you gotta love the expression. Note to self--never steal Spyro's spirit gems.
He looks a little bit like an Eastern dragon. Was this intentional?

Haha yes, and overall never ever steal anything from Spyro. He's such a furious little dragon.
Making him to look like an eastern dragon wasn't my intention at all, actually - although it's really interesting that this reminded you of them! I think the reason for that is because i've drawn eastern dragon-like creatures more than the western ones.
To me Spyro's face looks a bit like a salamander in my style, hahaha.
