Description A later variant of Pe-8 (hence the turret-less nose) fitted with American engines and armament. The four Mikulin AM-35 were traded off for four Allison V-1710-97. Β The single Berezin UBTs in the nose and in both inner nacelles were replaced with 12.7mm AN/M2 Brownings. The 20mm shVAK cannon's were replaced with licence-built 20mm Madsen m.1940 cannons with 30-round drums. The XB-28 could carry 11,000Lbs of ordinance, though usually no more than 9,000Lbs. An important difference between the XB-28 and the Pe-8 is that the inner nacelle stations are remote-controlled from beam position windows (blocked by the wing in this drawing)
