I´ve used Photomatix to create the HDR image and Photoshop for postprocessing.

Oh i tried Photomatrix, it was not easy to create an image that looked good! Well, i will keep trying!

Have you tried the Version 4 of Photomatix?
There´re great presets for easy and really good results.

Maybe you should try the Nik HDR Efex plug-in. A little more expensive than Photomatix, but it creates amazing results, too.

And ... of course ... it's a matter of practice.
