The calm before the storm
Everything seems as if it’s in the norm
Play play play before the chance is gone
Here comes the storm’s song

Quick relief from stifling heat
But relief was fleet
Hide hide hide a new form of torture is here
Murderous heat has left but now more is near

Lightning rips open the sky
“What did I do?” the sky seems to cry
Bang bang bang roars the relentless thunder
Tearing any silence asunder

Little children’s screams
And loathing fitful dreams
Run run run search for desperate escape
Before it grabs you by the nape

Dark clouds watch in solemnity
Their tears from this pain inflicted rains down upon me
Drip drip drip pours down the unwitting rain
As it adds to all this pain

The storm has receded
But its job is done pain has been seeded
. . . The dark sky resigns to silence
Calm after all this violence
