64-bit... that's an odd name for a companion to have, what's their deal?

Not to give too much away, 64-Bit is Ronni’s best friend and roommate, taking on various CGI jobs in Hollywood to save budget money, mostly in game commercials but often providing explosions or effects at a fraction of the CGI cost. He also works as a stuntman to pay the bills alongside Ronni, as their unique and remarkable abilities enable them to perform stunts that many of their peers could not without many more safety considerations. He often accompanies Ronni on her adventures, though not always, and they adventure together out of friendship, similar taste in men and the fact that Ronni seems to attract trouble that seems to grow out of proportion, which often results in monetary gain. He resents being classified as the β€˜sassy gay friend’ yet he seems to fulfill the role quite handily. Just don’t call him a sidekick!

Right... so his unique abilities are...

Whoops... forgot that part. A freak accident granted Stanley, a former Game Pit manager the ability to physically transform into any video game character that he can think of, taking on their commensurate powers and abilities. Thus the codename "64-Bit".

Ahhh, well that's pretty damn cool then.

I bet he's really popular with the videogame movie adaptions.

That and small movie explosions. And he gets a LOT of work in smaller budget commercials

Really hoping that I can get it onto the web as a series... I am pushing for it!

Does it cause him any gender identity issues when taking on the forms of female videogame characters?

You know, I hadn't actually thought about that, but it could be a lot of fun to play with! "Okay, go make like Laura Croft and distract that guy, wouldya?" "Awwww, mannnn....!"

Well I think you've mentioned allready that he's gay... maybe that'd be a source of internal conflict nd character development for him, if he used his abilities to take on a female form he'd be able to pursue his preffered gender of partner more easily and with fewer societal pressures against him, but he'd have to come to terms with making that concession to fitting in and perhaps even betraying the gay community by escaping the prejudice with the easy way out.

Very possibly so... plus he would get a lot of flack from any transgendered folk were he to choose that route. Gay is pretty easily acceptable these days, after all, whereas those who go through the process of transitioning are still very much not accepted. Plus I tend to think that beneath whatever costume he was wearing he would look a bit like a Barbie doll, so that might make 'cruising as Chun Li' a bit problematic beyond just the make-out portion. But it could make for some interesting writing for him to be closeted and pursuing that as an escape, with Ronni encouraging him to be out, loud and just to be himself- something a bit against type for a shapeshifter.

Mm, it's an interesting avenue to consider at least.

And... there are still pretty strong pockets of prejudice against homosexuals that'd the gay people at least as much as transgendered people.

And a loophole to the "barbie doll" problem could be to take the form of a character whose anatomy is fully known, there are erotica-based games after all... heck, couldn't he also take the form of a female character minus her costume and then dress up in 'real' clothing to get around that?

There are strong pockets of predudice against homosexuals, but they are gaining much more acceptance in mainstream media and larger population centers. While there will always be phobics of any lifestyle, the gays have definitely made huge strides in the past decade. But 'bait and switch', particularly when a guy finds himself attracted to a woman and it is discovered that she was once a man (or is one in disguise in 64-Bit's case) tends to enrage men and cause considerable hassle.

And there are loopholes, but at least at this point in my mind it would be more interesting to have the 'barbie conundrum'. Sure, there are plenty of adult games out there which could compensate for this, but it is often the flaws and failings in powersets such as these that make for the best storytelling in my experience.

Though the more I have thought about it the more I think I would rather for our boy Stanley to be an actual positive gay male, one who could be embraced by the community rather than having him trying to hide his identification. You do raise an interesting idea, I will admit, and I will likely work it into a story at some point, but as an overall character I think I'd prefer for him to be someone the gay male community could embrace as a positive depiction as one of their own

Yeah, I guess some guys are just insecure about their masculinity that way...

Touche, well good luck with it whatever you decide to do with it.

Mmm, that's probably wise, so ultimtely he'd be shown to see the temptation, maybe even experiment with it, but reject it in the end...

thank you for the line of inquiry! you took the idea down a path I hadn't put a lot of thought into, and thus made me consider and build more depth into him in a previously unconsidered facet. I really appreciate it!
