I did some kind of a redesign of Zancrow once because his original outfit is a fucking eyesore and while I was at it I also made his general color palette a bit more pleasing. The bright, "ms paint default color"-esque yellow of his hair is replaced with a more natural, pleasing blonde and his eyes are a darker red too. Idk I just don't like the color palette of the original. The tan is just a thing I've been drawing him with since, like, forever, I think it's fitting for a fire-user. (Might just be my bias for the dark skin + light hair combo tho?)His outfit has mostly the same color palette but I got rid of the 3847937492 layers wrapped around his lower body because what the fuck were those even... The stuff hanging on his hips now is just a vest-thingie that he can put on if someone gets pissy at him for having his tiddies out 24/7. Also gave him some boots instead of those bandage socks (but you can't see them here anyway so, meh :U )

This is a lot more appealing to the eyes. Because I had a hard time watching the old fairy Tail with all those bright flashy colors. don't get me wrong they are better than whatever the fuck Tartaros was doing but a calmer of the colors is nice. Much nicer. I also love the redesign. it's not suck a damn clusterfuck. and if anyone is going to complain about his tiddies being out 24/7 they can stop looking.

I actually preferred the more saturated palette of the first season but it just didn't look good on some characters, just like the more desaturated colors of the second season didn't look good on others...

well glad there's someone that thinks like that. I get bashed for putting my opinion of the Fairy Tail color palette. but I have to agree. some characters look better with the saturated and others looks better with the desaturated colors. I just have a hard time liking the damn shininess that was in Dragon Cry (I watched it. I need serious help. the war flashbacks)

You'd be suprised but I've actually seen a lot of art of Natsu with a tan or even much darker skin, just usually not here on dA.

Giving it that more natural blonde yellow tone is so much more appealing, and the tanner complexion really suits the lighter hair color really well. Honestly wish mashima and the anime studios followed this palette much more

Yeah, honestly a lot of color palettes in Fairy Tail are... not good. Wether Mashima or the staff at A-1 Pictures chose them *side-eyes Neinhart's grape color scheme and Ajeel's contrast-lacking muddy brown palette* (and I can't talk about shitty-ass color palettes without mentioning Acnologia in the end of Dragon Cry, whyyyyyyy)
