Knowledge of technology
Mayhem has great understanding of all kinds of technology, ranging from robots and vehicles to communication devices. Most of his knowledge is self-taught and he hardly knows the correct terminology for most of the components, but he knows what they can do and how to work with them.

Scrap Salvaging
Not having access to much new material or parts, Mayhem has learned to salvage most trashed tech and scrap metal he finds. He can make functioning tech even from components that would seem unsalvagable to most.

Personality:
Having to work with what little he can find in the wasteland, Mayhem has learned to be resourceful. He can make the most out of every little thing and is very creative with applying his knowledge.
He tends to get lost in his work, forgetting to sleep, eat or stretch. He does not pay attention to his surroundings when occupied and can not keep track of time, passing hours without realizing. The circumstance that he's deaf on one ear does not help in this situation.
He's a bit on the forgetful side, especially concerning things he does not consider important. Personal information are among the things he does not consider important, he has a hard time remembering the names and faces of people, more concerned with what use they had or have to him.
Mayhem is very observant. He's able to read most people's emotions and uses that to his advantage, getting on people's good side or pushing their buttons in a way that benefits him.
He hates admitting to making mistakes. He likes to spin and twist the narrative until things aren't really his fault anymore and it seems more like he was wronged rather than him doing anything wrong.
He isn't the type of person who gets very physically confrontational, but is more underhanded and sneaky. Though he's not afraid to verbally call people out when they're stupid and tell them off.
Mayhem is very easily irritated. A lot of things grind his gears, although some take longer to really make him angry. He's the type of person who expresses their anger silently. He doesn't yell and rage, instead he talks low, dragging his words out, in his eyes a look that could kill.
He's strong-willed and not the type of person who easily gives up, not resting until he finishes what he set out to do. He's stubborn as all hell.
He doesn't like talking about himself, specifically his past and his emotions. He has a hard time opening up to people as it leaves him feeling vulnerable. It takes a long time and a lot of hardship to earn his trust, and even after years there's still a nagging fear at the back of his head.
Mayhem does not return things he borrows. As far as he's concerned, anything that he takes or that is given to him is now his, even if he says he's only borrowing it. When confronted about it, he feigns ignorance.
He considers his creations his babies and does not allow anyone to tinker with them, doesn't even allow most people to touch them. Even help is not appreciated or accepted, only he is allowed to work on his tech, no one else. If someone damages or even destroys one Mayhem will hold it against them forever. The only exception to that is Bright, since Mayhem got used to Bright's ineptitude to handle things with care (and also because he likes Bright).

Backstory:
Born as the eldest "daughter" to a large family of Jackal outlaws, Mayhem was in line to take over as head of the family once his mother stepped down. He grew up learning his pack's way of "being a jackal", playing nice with the other outlaw groups to take advantage of them. His mother personally and closely mentored him, attempting to mold him into her perfect successor, just like her parents brought her up. Mayhem was the only one taught to think for himself, his younger siblings were conditioned to blindly follow the leader of the pack and not question orders.
In his early teens, Mayhem realized he was trans but lacking the proper terminology meant trouble for him talking about it with his family. His mother considered it an attempt to rebel against her and punished his "rebellion" harshly. Mayhem began to loathe his mothers and started to actively reject his pack's way of living. His mother could no longer take him along to meet other outlaw gangs because he would not play the part he was taught, no matter how much she punished him afterwards.
Confiding in his siblings only led to them telling his mother, resulting in more punishment. Having lost his trust in others, he distanced himself from the pack and made plans to run away. One of his siblings caught wind and told his mother. Upon being confronted Mayhem attacked his mother, slashing her across the face with a knife and blinding her in one eye, before running away. He lived alone for a couple years after that, during which he found the proper terminology to refer to himself and also transition.
When working on a piece of tech one day, he though he heard a sound coming from it. He put an ear on it, trying to determine if the sound is in fact coming from inside, which is the moment it blew up. The explosion was small but close enough to his head that he became deaf in the ear that was turned to it. Following the sound of the explosion, Bright the Lion came across him. He saw Mayhem was hurt and went to help him. Mayhem initially tried to get him to leave, being unnecessarily hostile. Mayhem was afraid of having someone around, especially while he was injured. He felt vulnerable and feared getting attached to someone, feared the inevitable betrayal of trust.
But Bright stayed, the betrayal never came and Mayhem got attached to Bright.
He and Bright continue traveling around on Bright's modified bike. They had a few run-ins with Mayhem's old family, who are searching for him to bring him back and continue to refer to him as "sister" and using she/her pronouns.
