I can understand how hard it can be to take underwater pix, for both, photographer and model.....because I've also tried it!!!!! And my pix weren't that nice like yours...^^ SO, my big respect!!!!

To everyone that says that the underwater theme is overused needs to stop a second a listen. You wouldn't tell a black and white photographer to shoot something in color. You wouldn't tell a portrait photographer to shoot a full body. You wouldn't tell a landscape photographer to shoot people. So why on Earth would you tell an underwater photographer to stop shooting underwater? It doesn't make sense. Obviously, underwater photography is Sugarock99's specialty, so why would you tell her to do something else? If you're tired of looking at underwater photos, then look at another photographer instead of telling an underwater photographer she has to do something else.

The difference is portraiture and landscapes are broad schools of photography. Underwater is a gimmick.

Her hair is such an amazing color! 8D It contrasts the blue of the water beautifully. Is she your daughter? ^_^

Is nobody else sick of these? I mean, they're cool and all, I liked them at first, but pretty girls in floaty lacey dresses underwater over and over and over and over... it's getting a little dull. And they're all essentially the same.
I probably sound like a horrible bitch and I'm probably going to get flamed for this, but geez. At least, like, dye the water. Hell, 'shop it so it doesn't have that same turquoisey tropical lighting every single time. I mean, just... asdfgh. Variety. I beg of you, VARIETY.

I'm going to give you a critique. I think your photo style is very bland. You can't take most of the people on DA to seriously because they'll say they love it if it looks even SLIGHTLY artistic. The first few underwater photos were nice, but it's getting old. The alice in wonderland thing was so over used, and this one is okay. but still. I think you need to experiment more.
If you still want to do underwater shots, at least go out of your way to make them look nice. It looks like you just take these in a pool. I'm going to be blunt and say, once I'm over the shock that it's underwater, all I can see is how ugly the BG is.
Maybe take some shots in the ocean, or a river?
I think you should stop taking underwater shot though. Or at least take fewer of them. Don't get stuck in a rut.

I think everyone has a style that defines them. I don't think it's a rut, per se. While everyone is entitled to their opinion of course, I do think you may be underestimating how hard underwater photography can be.

I didn't ask you a GOD DAMNED THING!
Kidding, but really...
Underwater isn't a style. This person is abusing the fact that because their shots are underwater all the little brats on DA who think they know everything about art ever are going to freak out and faun all over it. Abusing isn't the right word actually, but I can't think of a better one. I don't doubt that underwater photography is hard. Thats why I gave them a critique so they could make their pictures better. Right now they're boring and ugly, and I don't know why they're getting on the popular page every two months or so.
