Thank you! It was great fun playing around with the design of Firestar and the other femmes. And I'm glad you like the background, since those are usually a weakness. XD

*rolls all over how awesome this picture is, yet again* i love Firestar so much here. <3 (not that this is news to you; i've gushed over this pic before. ~_^)

Not bad over all. Firestar does look a bit "masculine" though; a little too "buff" IMO. Her waist, especially, could be a little slimmer to accentuate the hips a little more.

Well not all women are slender and/or curvey.

Agreed. However, in Firstarβs case, canonically, she, and her particular group of compatriots were more slender and curvy. In fact, one manga in which she appeared specifically brings up the fact that she had the finest aft of all of them.

I did that deliberately. Firestar's function is search and rescue; I imagine she's built like a brick shithouse. Her being as thin as, say, Moonracer makes no sense to me.

I've always seen her as tall and athletic, not "butch"; built more like a swimmer or cross-country runner than a body builder. My issue is that the waist is almost as wide as the hips and chest. Even giving her a "fuller figure", the waist should be significantly smaller than the hips or chest. IF you want a more "muscular" Firestar, the Generations Kup figure is a good base model to use as reference. With the right mods, it's a near perfect Firestar with a slim waist and wide hips for the feminine look, but also broad shoulders for a "strong" physique.

No, actually, it doesn't have to be. Many, many female athletes, especially swimmers IMO, don't have what I would describe as an hourglass figure. They've got lots of muscle and not much fat, which lends itself to broader shoulders and thicker waists like those on Dara Torres or Hope Solo.
I'm not trying to stick to shapes that canon already uses. I approach Transformers body shapes the same as human bodies; they come in all shapes and sizes. (And I'm not just referring to alt modes.) There are numerous human body types, even on women, where the waist is either thicker or not noticeably thinner than the hips. I realize that actual G1 cartoon canon only uses maybe two or three body types for the femmes, but part of what I love about creating fanworks is being able to fix problems with the canon.

It's possible to make her both curvey and bulky at the sametime. This pic is a great exampleΒ

Never said it "had to be", but, from an artistic and aesthetic perspective, it does help to distinguish the sexes better and make her more "attractive" even with a fuller figure. Just a suggestion though from one artist to another. It's still a great piece.

Oh wow! This looks amazing! You simply don't see enough Firestar and Inferno artwork out there! In fact, you don't see enough Firestar art period! -__- This is a delightful change to the tedium, yes? She looks wonderful in this style! A little less rounded than what "female" transformers are normally portrayed, but the angular features work for her.
As for the background- it's stunning! The warm colours throughout clearly say "FIRE!" without a blazing neon sign pointing it out. Subtle, yet very obvious. Nice job!

Thanks!
Realized while drawing this one that those resolutions are going to require more patience, lol. ("Gah, isn't this part done yet?") The results are worth it though!
