Leonardo: Actually, that's kinda one of the advantages of digital media. If they know what they're doing, you'd be surprised at how quickly things can be made through a graphics tablet and a powerful drawing software. There's also the ability to ctrl-z any errors they make, and that they can also do the artpiece in layers, whereas traditional media you'd have to actually work backwards and have the complete drawing visualized in your head before you even put in any inking. Not to say people shouldn't have the complete drawing already visualized with digital media, but it's easier to experiment and is far less messy.

There's a reason why traditional artists have this trope where their garbage bin is filled with crumpled papers... yeah.

This is why I'm really going to try and get a tablet soon... when I have money, that is My current technique is a hybrid of hand drawing and digital drawing by mouse. Not the most efficient method in the world, that's for sure! That's probably why I'm so shocked this took only 2.5 hours.

Mr.Fabulous: DEAR-oh-DEAR!!!

My, what a marvelous artpiece, Shedinja-dear! I do say, you have abso-positively-lutely captured the softness of yours-truly. Oh, how the lines are drawn quite ever-so-straight, and the shading ever-so-superb. And oh, how you've drawn the cookies to be quite delicious and ever-so-scrumptious-looking to the eyes, mmm! I do also adore how you've given my eyes a subtle starbound-highlight theme to them, as if I was gazing upon a clear night sky. Marvelous, truly marvelous!

An artpiece that oh-so-deserves a perfectly-fitting spotlight in my favorites, Shedinja-dear, thank you ever-so-much for drawing me so well!

And COOKIES!!! Milk and cookies for all yonder and wherever! Gather all and enjoy this grand party of milk and cookies!

          :bademoticon:

... However, there are a few teensy-tiny things I'd like to clarify with this artpiece, Shedinja-dear.

> The bottom-portion curls of my hair ought to be a fair bit bigger/puffier in their size, since I love having my hair make a fabulous statement, much like everything else about me

> My eyes do not actually have those black-outlined pupils. Indeed, they ought to be intensely-skyblue on the edges, which then fade into the clearest of pearly-whites in the center. The reason for this is... I'm actually physically-blind, due to a condition similar to cataracts. But because I am of psychic-typing, I use my psionic energies to 'see' my surroundings for me, in a manner similar to how zubats use echolocation. This condition's been with me ever since I was a ralts, a little before I evolved into a kirlia. T'is a long story how I got this condition, but worry not! I 'see' just as fine as any gardevoir.

Once again, thank you ever-so-very-much for drawing yours-truly, Shedinja-dear! It does mean oh-so-much to me that you have taken the time to bless me with this artpiece!

Wow. That's incredible! So in theory, if someone was to  blind-fold you, you wouldn't be affected?

Leonardo-ergiT In reply to MisterVertality [2015-09-22 06:59:57 +0000 UTC]

Mr.Fabulous: Indeed, Vert-dear, which makes it all-the-more clever. Though I would like to point out, it isn't quite the same as seeing with normal eyes: everything does appear somewhat fuzzy at times, but thankfully I've had years of practice to make my psychic-'eye' sharp enough to compensate. It's also admittedly tiring, since it does use up my psychic reserves, which I do use to float and move about and do almost everything else.

... Though, if you follow my trainer-dear's current comic, Sister, it actually became an... issue, later on.

Oh, and yes... it makes me completely-unable to sense any dark-types abound. So I have that issue as well...

Michele: It's unfortunate that outside this bizzare medium, we're separated by 500 years of history, and possibly a universe too. We developed technology to cure blindness like this without transplant hundreds of years ago. I'm not too sure how the procedure works, but my friend Kimmy might be able to explain if you're interested. The fact that you've been able to overcome this issue is awe-inspiring, and I think anyone who lives in my time would commend you for your determination to live life as fabulously as you can despite this

Mr.Fabulous: Oh, well... Thank you so much for looking up to me as an example, Michele-dear. But to be quite honest with you, to be fabulous was kind of a matter of... survival, back when I was still but a ralts. I dare not say more, for fear of spoiling the comic's progression, but needless to say if you'd like to have an inkling as to what I mean, you may check out this ralts report done by Professor Wormwood.

And it's not so much of an issue as that I can't be cured, than it is that I can't yet afford such a treatment, you see. Bottom line is, it would take more than just a short trip to the pokemon center to have my eyes back to their original faculties.

MisterVertality In reply to Leonardo-ergiT [2015-09-22 12:22:41 +0000 UTC]

Michele: While most people in my time could understand how important merely surviving can sometimes be for a Wild Pokemon (especially if they had a condition like cataracs, for example), they don't tend to associate that with domesticated pokemon, or pokemon that used to be wild, because wild pokemon are very rarely caught in my time: I think a census from last year (2514) in Unova revealed less than 1200 pokemon were caught and registered, compared with about 1 million in 2015. Of course, wild or not, survival is still important, but not to the same extent for domesticated pokemon, except for a few... well... unfortunate cases. Hopefully, I could turn such cases around in my work as a police officer... if, that is, I can pass my exams.

If we are only displaced by time, I would say to expect the price of this procedure you need to drop in about 15 years. I probably shouldn't say anymore than that though, to protect the timeline of course. And yeah, both a transplant and this transplant-free method we have developed would be a lengthy procedure.

Leonardo-ergiT In reply to MisterVertality [2015-09-22 12:55:58 +0000 UTC]

Mr.Fabulous: Oh dear... I think, perhaps, we may have gone off on a bit of a different tangent as to how we interpreted my intent on the use of the word survival, Michele-dear. T'was may have been literal in its meaning, in a sense, but t'was more metaphorical, in its intended use. For you see--

Leonardo: *taps the gardevoir's shoulder* Ah... Maybe you should refrain from explaining further, bro. You might accidentally drop the ball without knowing, ya know?

Mr.Fabulous: Oh? Ah, indeed! Well, in any case, it's comforting to know that such treatments may be improved and developed to be more affordable in a decade or so!

Though, just to help you understand where I'm coming from better, I do advise that you recheck that ralts report by Professor Wormwood I linked to you earlier... particularly its third paragraph. It's one of the reasons why the ralts-line pokemon are usually ill-advised as starter pokemon.

... But that doesn't at all mean I loathed your trainership, Leonardo-dear. *hugs Leonardo*

MisterVertality In reply to Leonardo-ergiT [2015-09-22 13:22:20 +0000 UTC]

Michele: Mr.Fabulous, I completley understand what you initially meant by survival: due to the... *sigh* emotional circumstances of my hatching, I almost became gravely ill in the first week of my life, because of the emotional state of my human carers, who eventually adopted me. I'd rather not talk about it, but rest assured, that aspect of survival was not lost on me. Hmm... maybe the wording of my response suggested otherwise?? Also, awwwww. Seeing you two hug really makes me wonder what it would be like to have a trainer.
Me: If I was to be analytical for a moment it seems you put a bit too much emphasis on survival in the context of the wild, and less so on the importance of emotions for a ralts' survival.
Michele: Well, we can't all be tip-top writers, can we?? Well, not from the outset anyway. Idk, I think I need an awakening xD So... *interrupted by Vert*
Me: Dammit, I can't find any. You okay with coffee?
Michele: Well, it's not good for me, but it's not terrible either. Would you like a coffee, Mr.Fabulous?? Anyway... as I was... *inerrupted by Vert again*
Me: Wait!! I found the awakening! We're all good
Michele: That's good... anyway, as I was saying, Mr.Fabulous, how would you, in simple terms, describe the experience of having a trainer?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Leonardo-ergiT In reply to MisterVertality [2015-09-22 15:10:51 +0000 UTC]

Mr.Fabulous: Oh! I'm quite glad we finally understand each other, Michele-dear.
But to be quite frank with you, Michele-dear? It would've been far less... dangerous on my part had I been introduced to my Leonardo-darling as--

Leonardo: Uhhh... *clears throat*

Mr.Fabulous: ... Oh! Leonardo-dear! Leonardo-dear, oh forgive me for that little slip-up, *giggles*. Had I been introduced to Leonardo-dear as a gardevoir, instead of a ralts, is what I meant to say, then my trainership might've gone a little less... hazardly.

Yet as for the honesty's-side, I dare say I wouldn't ever change the circumstances, even for the universe. *smiles and hugs Leonardo again*

Leonardo: Heh... All I've got to say about it, Michele, is... while most times it's the trainer who trains the pokemon... sometimes it happens to go the other way around. *hugs Mr. Fabulous back* And I'm glad I got to have you in my life back then, bro...

Mr.Fabulous: *blushes* Awww, brother-dearest, you need not be so dramatic about these things, tee-hee~!

MisterVertality In reply to Leonardo-ergiT [2015-09-22 16:17:01 +0000 UTC]

Michele: Awwwwwwww! That's so sweet. So, for you two, it's like a strong sibling-like or family-like bond, but with a heavier emphasis mentoring too? Interesting... I guess that happens when you've grown up with someone from a young age, hey? I don't know, I guess I feel a similar way with my adopted parents, but it's alot more like a typical parent-daughter relationship, and I've had good friends, but not yet with a connection on the level that you two seem to share. But I shouldn't judge the relationships I have with people against other people's relationships, I have great friends, especially in Kimico and George. I could trust them with just about anything. We'd make a great team, I think: me and them. But still, I wish I could experience what it was like to have a trainer back in the old days... too bad time travel doesn't exist. Oh well...
