For this piece I used 2 brushes, the hard brush and the airbrush. Both are default photoshop brushes. To clean things up I used the lasso tool

Oh ok I had already tried to work with this technique but it's not really convenient to me ^^' but it's seems to be really easy the way you explain it

I'd recommend just going crazy with brushes, that's what I did until I found out I really didn't need that much. Usually I use no more than 5 brushes, unless I'm doing chain jewelry or something like that.

Oh yes ! it's a good way to do to know how many brushes you really wanted ^^  For me, I only use 2 brushes 'cause I don't really need more for the moment
