Well, this has been an on-and-off project for about 3 weeks now.At this point I'm kind of at a loss of what else I can add and I'm happy with it so I guess it's safe to say it's done. I really wanted to take my time with something that I could be proud of. While it's far from perfect, I think it's a major improvement and step in the right direction for me.
Just to prevent confusion, he's not running on a beach. Think of it as some sort of path or cliff at a distance from the ocean, hence why there's no sand.
DAMN YOU POPCORN CLOUDS!!

Lol yeah the clouds are a lil popcorn-y, but everything else looks pretty fabulous. The shading style is awesome. Keep going in this direction!

One improvement I can think of is making his far leg darker, so It's obvious it's far.

Wow, this is really great. I love the background in particular; you're pretty skilled with indicating details and incorporating soft, ambient colors into your pieces. The reflections on the water are particularly impressive.

I'm actually not all that experienced when it comes to drawing backgrounds so this was kind of a new challenge for me. Practice makes perfect though.
