Description I wanted to do a digital painting of Ordon Village from The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess. After seeing some of the new official artwork for Skyward Sword, it made me want to try my hand at the impressionist style. Enjoy.

Would it be alright if I used this in my main YouTube account's upcoming video, So Cold 10 Zelda Remixes Video XXX, which is a special video and is also the last in the latest season? I'll credit you, so don't worry. Also, I may have to add some text on top of it. You will still receive full credit, however.

That would be fine, but please link back to this page. Also, I'd like a link to the video, as well. Thanks!

Oooh, I love how this came out. The soft and fuzzy feel of the art style makes it look very peaceful and soothing. Very fitting for Ordon Village.

I'm surprised that Photoshop is capable of producing something like this ... it looks like actual pastels or perhaps a painting done with a palette knife instead of a brush. I never would have guessed it was digital if you hadn't said so. Wow @ technology.

SageFeathers In reply to AngelAdept [2011-01-16 00:45:37 +0000 UTC]

Thank you for the fav! It's all in the brushes you choose to use. They have some really painterly ones. I make some of my own, too.

AngelAdept In reply to SageFeathers [2011-01-16 01:09:37 +0000 UTC]

Since I got a new computer recently, I had to get a new version of Photoshop to go with it. Maybe I'll actually learn more to brush up my digital editing skills at some point. There must be a lot of new options now.

Also, I think it's cool that you make your own brushes. Can't say I'm surprised, though.

SageFeathers In reply to AngelAdept [2011-01-16 04:01:40 +0000 UTC]

It's actually fun making brushes and it's nice because I don't feel like I'm taking away someone's hard work if I use their pre-made brushes even if I give them credit.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

AngelAdept In reply to SageFeathers [2011-01-16 04:12:35 +0000 UTC]

See, I don't even know how to make my own Photoshop brushes OR use other people's custom ones. If I ever need to learn how, though, I should get you to teach me how that works.

SageFeathers In reply to AngelAdept [2011-01-16 04:43:39 +0000 UTC]

You can download brush packs from sites like Brusheezy. Making them is pretty simple. All you have to do is delete the white background on a layer in Photoshop, draw whatever you want, select the image, go to Edit and Define Brush Preset. Then you can name it and you'll have it as a brush.

Sounds nice and simple. Out of curiosity, which version of Photoshop are you using these days? I had CS2 for a long time, but my new version is CS5. Both obtained at a discount through my university store, of course, or I never would have been able to afford it.

SageFeathers In reply to AngelAdept [2011-01-16 18:39:05 +0000 UTC]

I'm using CS4. I got the student discount when I was going to school, too. I have that, Illustrator, Flash, and Corel Painter. Flash and Painter crash sometimes so I usually just stick with Photoshop for art and Illustrator for fancy text.

Hmmm, Corel Painter eh? I'm a diehard Corel WordPerfect fan for word processing myself, since I grew up with WP for everything. *hides from the old-fashionedness police*

I never used that program. It is like MS Word at all? Corel Painter (I have the Painter X version) is really awesome since they have a bunch of brushes with different opacity levels such as watercolor or impasto. They also have a mixing area and you have the option of picking up underlying colors when you paint. They made it feel pretty natural. The only downside to the program is that it runs as slow as a turtle depending on the size of the brush you're using and the size of the workspace. I'd definitely work small in it.

AngelAdept In reply to SageFeathers [2011-01-18 10:28:47 +0000 UTC]

Think of Corel WordPerfect as MS Word with a more user-friendly interface in a few ways. WordPerfect lets you see the markup (formatting and stuff) the document uses, MS Word doesn't. It's great for, um, perfectionists. Lets you see WHY your document formatting looks like a mess so that you can fix the problem. I think I'll be using WordPerfect rather than MS Word for the final editing and formatting of my dissertation, if I can.

Corel Painter sounds like an interesting program. Maybe I'll get it once I have some time and money available. Thanks for recommending it.
