Description
So, I got a little bored with dragon OCs and decided to make a new species. DO NOT MAKE A CARPEDILE/CARPEDILLIAN THEY ARE A CLOSED SPECIES UNLESS I GIVE ONE OR SELL ONE TO YOU. So, here's some basic info about the species:

Carpedile/Carpidillian

Appearance:

They tend to vary in color a lot, but only range in heavily grey-tinted hues or whites and oranges. Their color are entirely carp and koi colors. They have a reptilian head with a frill that resembles a carp's gill fins. It has nostrils and gills and can alternate between the two, whether it be on land or water. They possess two pudgy forearms like a crocodile's and fins where their hind legs should be. They have carp tails. A small line of spines start tall at their forehead and gradually get smaller as they reach mid-back, where they disappear. Their eyes can alternate between slitted and circular, depending on the light levels. Their eyes can be amber, yellow, blue, green, orange, black-grey, and very rarely silver. Albinism is especially rare since these creatures do not reproduce often. They can reach up to a meter in length and their eyes remain relatively large for sight in the dark.

Behavior:

They're carnivorous animals that prey on smaller fish, mollusks, small rodents, and insects. They're loud and clumsy, so they prefer to hunt at night, when their night vision gives them the upper hand. However, they are slower on land since their hind legs and tail have to drag behind them. When hunting in the water, they are much more stealthy and can swim very strongly. When encountering something new, the carpedile will try its best to examine the thing. It will touch and smell it as well. it will try to taste it if the object is small enough. They have strong stomachs and can live through weaker poisons. They have relatively clean teeth, as after they finish a meal, they will seek out a large stick or bone to gnaw on in order to get rid of the particles stuck to their teeth.

When meeting its own species:

They're fairly territorial and don't do well with their own species, though have been noted to be "friends*" with large fish and reptiles. When meeting its own species, it will flare out its crest and hiss rather fiercely and engage into a staring contest, the first to shrink away is deemed defeated. However, sometimes if the staring persists too long, one will attack the other and start a duel. It is usually fought until one can't fight anymore, in which it will flatten its crest, close it's eyes, and wave its tail slowly. The 'winner' has choice of either letting it go, or to kill it.

*the term friends can range from not attacking and swimming alongside to trying to take care of the other animal if its health drops.
