Not saying I don't support Olimar's canonical marriage. In fact, I like the fact he has family. I just like another complicated (gay) side to it as well, even if it is morally wrong.

I noticed that too, and the funniest thing is, if you take control over him (like in Bingo Battle, or in Pikmin 2) he's appears much more competent. XD;;;
Reminds me of Luigi in the sense where his bravery/personality is vastly different between RPG games and the regular Mario adventure games, (i.e. NSMB series)

Yeah, I was honestly excited to see that he was returning as playable in the Bingo Battle mode before the game's release. (I would watch for any kind of update on the internet.)
I always interpreted Louie as more timid, quiet, cowardly, and somewhat dim-witted (at least in 2; that wouldn't really explain why Louie stops talking to Olimar altogether in 3. Unless his shyness is just getting worse or that he's traumatized from being accidentally left behind in 2. ) But we never got many sources of clear info for Louie's personality besides his quietness and gluttony (and an ambiguous connection to bugs ,) so who knows...

I followed the news closely as well. I still recall the exact days and what I was doing for both if their reveals. XD;; ..you just can't replicate those reactions. -u- Not that I exactly want to, since I'd be overdosing otherwise.
Louie does act rather dim-witted, as evident in the secret video logs, haha. I was going to play with the idea of their side of the story in a Pikmin 3. Nothing grand, but perhaps there are just bits and pieces I would like to explore, interpret, and elaborate. We could tell from Olimar's logs things were getting worse in terms of cooperating.
I don't know, I find it funny how Nintendo shaped Louie's characterization. He's hated by many, and yet attracts fans as well.

I was also interested by the logs Olimar left behind and the video logs you could unlock. I kind of speculated that Olimar was so focused on finding treasure to use to get back the S.S. Dolphin that he kept on going, despite the fact that their ship was totaled and that they were trapped on the planet with presumably no food or resources and that it was pointless to keep treasure hunting. Maybe that's why they were having issues and why Louie eventually ran off entirely after he saw and heard the Plasma Wraith coming. He might have been sick of Olimar's skewed priorities and just decided to look after himself.
Go for it! I'd enjoy art based on their side.
