Description This was probably my second largest project while in school (next to my animatronic)
This make up took four hours to apply and two hours to remove.
It took six weeks to design, sculpt, mould, bake and paint.
It's made with foam latex - this is a girl in my class - she's regularily quite attractive

nope - the appliance was molded to her face so it moved with her

well it depends on how you remove it but generally the endges are so thin (as to blend into the skin) that as you remove them things tear if it were for a series you'd have hundreds of pre-painted molds like this to use - this make up took 4 hours to apply and 2 to remove -_-;;

This is amazing! im doing a stone character for a competition, what did you use to get the stone effect??

๐Ÿ‘: 0 โฉ: 1

sailorangel In reply to Geenie-Designs [2009-02-02 00:25:09 +0000 UTC]

I painted the base grey all over - then I shaded the areas like the temples, under the cheekbones etc. with a black/grey mix then I took several different sized brushes and spattered white/grey/black over and over again by flicking my fingers over the brush - I did it from different distinces too so I could get smaller/bigger speckles I hope that helps - let me know how it goes for you

Im a huge fan of practical effects and youve done sone nice work there, lots of great little details like the cracks on the chin. Beautiful work, the only possible issue I could see was the mold lines along the hand appliances. Other than that its brilliant!

sailorangel In reply to Bracey100 [2008-03-20 11:12:33 +0000 UTC]

Thank you so much! Yeah, unfortunately I got a little rushed in the end (and I was running out of paint!) so you can see the mold lines. But overall I'm very happy with it

wow - that's a brilliant idea and execution (i tried a basic stone gargoyle make-up - no prosthetics - once for a goth club and it was shit )

๐Ÿ‘: 0 โฉ: 1

sailorangel In reply to Dakanavar [2007-04-25 19:16:52 +0000 UTC]

ha... it took about six hours to get it right - it took a lot of speckling!

๐Ÿ‘: 0 โฉ: 1

Dakanavar In reply to sailorangel [2007-04-27 11:18:51 +0000 UTC]

ooh, yes, that's what makes this piece so wonderful i think (besides the angles and her eyes) - the speckling

Do you have a before shot? I think prosthetics always need a before shot, because otherwise you can't tell how much work was done. For instance there's no way of telling what the person's head was originally shaped like. Then you don't know if only a few pieces were used and the rest is colored skin. Or, in most cases, the gender of the person. Just a thought

๐Ÿ‘: 0 โฉ: 1

sailorangel In reply to Evenfilms [2006-08-02 03:21:07 +0000 UTC]

Ok, I actually don't have a before shot but I can tell you that the only natural parts are her eyelids, and anything below the neck (except for her hands). Naturally she has big blond hair - she looks like a broncos cheerleader in my opinon There are six pieces in total - two ears - two hands- the face and a bald cap. everything was painted with appliance foundation. That's about it Let me know if you have any more questions - and thanks for the fave

๐Ÿ‘: 0 โฉ: 1

Evenfilms In reply to sailorangel [2006-08-02 03:39:20 +0000 UTC]

No? That's too bad...maybe she has a website for her makeup and stuff? lol. It sounds like it would be a good shocker to see the difference between her original self and the gargoyle, too bad though.

Sounds like a pretty good makeup. Are these all the pictures you have of this makeup? No process shots or anything?

I just love the way this looks. You even applied makeup to her fingers. You have some real talent...I am impressed!

Is there anywhere that you have additional photos of this or other similar projects? I've always been facinated with using prosthetic makeup to transform a person into an animal or creature of some type. I've pretty much had to settle with doing it digitally (which is fine but not nearly as much fun).

Great job!

๐Ÿ‘: 0 โฉ: 1

sailorangel In reply to lessthanhuman [2006-06-07 06:09:26 +0000 UTC]

unfortunatly I haven't done much more prosthetic work because of the time and the materials are very costly - I did do a friend up as darth maul using a sculpted bald cap - you can see that in my scraps section if you like. I promise if I do any more prosthectic work I'll post it

๐Ÿ‘: 0 โฉ: 1

lessthanhuman In reply to sailorangel [2006-06-12 21:46:44 +0000 UTC]

Thanks! I just have one more question about the gargoyle makeup job you did. I notice that you created prothetics for the model's hands...did you do so for her feet as well?

๐Ÿ‘: 0 โฉ: 1

sailorangel In reply to lessthanhuman [2006-06-14 13:39:03 +0000 UTC]

no, I was only working for the photoshoot and I knew it would be torso at most so I did three seperate moulds - the face, the ears, and the hands.
