                                      Why Megadeth OWNS

"Can you put a price on peace?" That is the famous question asked by Heavy Metal band MEGADETH un their 1986 album "Peace Sells... But Who's Buying?" Megadeth is one of the groundbreaking musical influences of the 80's, 90's, and today. With an insane drive, intelligent lyrics, and a provocative instrumental style, Megadeth is a peice of what makes metal of today what it is.

Megadeth was formed in 1983 by Dave Mustaine, a man on a mission for revenge. After being fired from his previous band METALLICA, Mustaine asked his former band mates not to use the material he had written for their debut album. Metallica ignored this request and used Mustaine's music on their 1983 album, "Kill 'em All". After this incident, Dave Mustaine vowed to "make a band louder, faster, and heavier than Metallica could ever be." In 1985, Megadeth released their first studio album "Killing Is My Business... And Business Is Good!", which featured a song (originally called "The Four Horsemen", and renamed "The Mechanix") of Mustaine's stolen by Metallica, only with a faster tempo, and completely rewritten lyrics. In the 2004 song "Of Mice and Men", Mustaine references Metallica's betrayal towards him with, "And in my back a hundred knives from my friends at 25." and his plans for vengence with, "The fire burns on and on that drives me on, 'till all is gone, except the simple plans of mice and men."
Megadeth is a band fueld by getting even, which, quite frankly, I admire.

As Megadeth's popularity grew, they became an even bigger influence on America's youth. Being a political band, Megadeth was able to use its' power to speak out on the important social issues of the 90's. Megadeth's 1992 album "Countdown to Extinction" won the Humane Society "Genesis Award" for the title track's dealings on Animal Abuse and Animal Welfare. In 1994, Megadeth's album "Youthanasia" (A play on the word 'Euthanasia'.) stirred up huge amounts of controversy over the title track's lyrics, which suggested that America's youth was being destroyed, as read in the lines, "We are the damned of all the world, with sadness in our hearts. The wounded of the wars, we've been hung out to dry." Megadeth boldly proves that Metal can be intelligent.

Through the years, Megadeth has sustained popularity and infamy due to their music, as well as their lyrics. With all the different guitarists, and drummers the band has had, their sound has gone under some renovations. Through it all, Megadeth has made a name for itself with its' ear-splitting, high-energy riffs. The song "Hangar 18" off the album "Rust in Peace" is well known for its' lighting-fast instrumentals and explosive sound. Megadeth displays many different moods through their music, even lighter and slower sounds like in their 1999 ballad "I'll Be There". There's always something for everybody in Megadeth's music.

To wrap things up, Megadeth owns because they've always been a source of high-energy, thought-provoking music with a take-no-prisoners attitude. Once famously stated in "Rattlehead", Megadeth is "A dose of Metal ya need!"

                                                      FIN.

Wickked, It's always so goddamn hard to find a fellow Megadeth fan, possibly since I live in hillbilly hell where everyone listens to "pop rock with a southern accent" or others which ever since Guitar Hero: Metallica came out have been rampant Metallica fans....
so you see my delemma.... They HATE Megadeth with a vengance without even hearing one song....

Of course it's necessary for this stuff to happen. How can anybody exist without knowing of the MAGIC that is Torchy Thompson and his homeboys?

I have Metallica's picture in my locker. I'm still waiting for the opportunity to write something in English about them.

Although we had some grammar exercises today based on orchestra stuff, so I wrote a ton about the S&M Album. LOL S&M.

Ah yes, it's quite comforting to know that the members of Metallica have a sense of humour akin to kids our age (15) LOLOLOLOLOL

No Leaf Clover was AMAZING

SailorBetch In reply to AkiTusspot [2008-09-27 00:18:22 +0000 UTC]

Yeah, I can't even talk about S&M at school without kids being all like, "WHOA!!!" Then I have to explain that is means "Symphony & Metallica", and how it's a double entendre, and all that crap. But it's worth it, cause that concert kicked SO MUCH ASS!!! If I were not 4 years old when they did that concert, I would've totally gone.

I have a "No Leaf Clover" shirt. I think that might be my favorite song from them. Either that, or "I Disappear" or "Devils Dance".

"Minus Human" was great too! But on S&M, "Call Of Ktulu" was fuckin' insane. I've never heard anything like that before.

What's your fav song from "Death Magnetic"? Mine is "Broken, Beat, and Scarred".
"SHOW! YOUR! SCARS!"

Aki's favourites are The Unforgiven III (I think that may be a vagina song: You have to have a vagina to really love it.) and All Nightmare Long.

LUCK.
RUNS.

I'm pretty sure you'll make a 100, or A+, or a 4...or however that essay'll be graded.
