AidanInferno In reply to SailorEnergy [2014-03-31 20:22:03 +0000 UTC]

Of course it is hard. That's where networking comes into play. I find it difficult myself to get viewers and watchers with my artwork so I try to find different ways to get attention either via groups or possibly networking with fellow deviants (which I haven't done much but any form of networking works)

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

SailorEnergy In reply to AidanInferno [2014-03-31 21:04:34 +0000 UTC]

Yep, but I do suck at networking through due to the way I grew up. :/ My Sailor Moon website used to be so popular without having me do anything at all (all it took was Google Search Engine). It was much better and easier back then before Facebook came along which kind splintered up the internet, adding much more workload than before. =_=

AidanInferno In reply to SailorEnergy [2014-03-31 22:24:24 +0000 UTC]

Yea things require a lot more effort nowadays so you have to take those extra steps which is a major pain.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

SailorEnergy In reply to AidanInferno [2014-04-01 03:19:45 +0000 UTC]

Yep, way major pain. Clubs are not working well because of too many DAs being posted at once, making them hard to be noticed. Fandoms are usually easier.

Β it's be a lot easier if I could find someone to help me with networking.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

AidanInferno In reply to SailorEnergy [2014-04-01 03:34:56 +0000 UTC]

I've noticed myself.

I've been in contact with some professionals to help me out with what to do for future career planning. I just hope it all pays off by the time I graduate and possibly get into grad school. I've heard and seen too much of college grads not getting jobs and suffering terribly. It's my darkest fear that I have to kill on a daily basis.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

SailorEnergy In reply to AidanInferno [2014-04-01 03:38:48 +0000 UTC]

Yep. :/

Yes, it is hard to find jobs lately. :/ Computer techs, nursing, enginneers have the lowest umemployment rates while handyman(builders), artists, social workers suffer the most.

Β  I think that's a result of having too many people out there and not producing enough jobs. Technology do tend to cut down jobs. I just don't get why would some parents start 3-5 children families.
Oh, be sure to get interview and resume trainings! Many new people did not get jobs mainly because they didn't prepare for the interviews properly.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

AidanInferno In reply to SailorEnergy [2014-04-01 03:45:10 +0000 UTC]

Accounting is pretty high in demand as well and they will always be needed. I'll have MIS or any other computer related field as backup if the worst happens to me.Β

Yeah social workers are definitely suffering.Β

Technology is just obliterating jobs and we aren't creating enough. That'll put some serious hurt on us for sure.

That I can handle. It's just my stupid GPA that's putting me behind other candidates (2.7 right now and I think it's going to drop lower to a 2.4 ><)

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

SailorEnergy In reply to AidanInferno [2014-04-01 03:50:30 +0000 UTC]

That is good.

2.4? OH! >_< That is low (mine was 3.8 in Gallaudet, 3.2 in Michigan State Universe) so that is something to worry about. '_'

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

AidanInferno In reply to SailorEnergy [2014-04-01 03:59:49 +0000 UTC]

Mhmm

*sighs* Yes....God I just freakin HATE academics....it just keeps bringing back my troubled past with GPA (I was never good in school. Always had a low gpa, never got into the schools I wanted to go to...UGH! ><) ever since I was in 3rd grade. It's like no matter what I do to get better, it's just one step forward and two steps back X_X.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

SailorEnergy In reply to AidanInferno [2014-04-01 04:16:27 +0000 UTC]

*sigh* T_TΒ  But you have to endure and keep soldiering on just like what I did during my school years. Being deaf, it was much harder but I endured and kept going.Β  In a way that is also the theme of my Pacificators story where a team of my characters would keep suffering from "a step foward and two steps back), but they endured on.

Are you a kind of guy who learn best from hands-on experience? I know I did far better with labs than lectures.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

AidanInferno In reply to SailorEnergy [2014-04-01 04:19:46 +0000 UTC]

I know, I know. Just had to vent out some bad mojo. I am doing a lot better now than how I did last semester when I transferred but I just need to practice more deliberately and ensure my study habits are effective.

.....I think I am that kind of person. I remember when I started my secretary position this semester for my student organization, I had no idea what I was doing but I was able to get hands on experience with better note taking and networking with others.Β

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

SailorEnergy In reply to AidanInferno [2014-04-01 04:44:49 +0000 UTC]

That's good to vent it out. Β  Oh, that's great to hear that you're doing better than last semester.

Yep, the courses are a formality so you have to show them that you can learn from experience. So better to get some intern jobs. You'll really need those.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

AidanInferno In reply to SailorEnergy [2014-04-01 17:48:12 +0000 UTC]

I'll say X_X Last semester I was in pure chaos mode going "OMG! WHAT DO I DO?! THERE'S TOO MUCH AND GRADES ARE SLIPPING! ARRRGG!!! *kaboom*"Β
As of now it's like this: "Ok, I have this much to do this week, but I can do it...I just need to have confidence in myself and try my best"

The problems I had with school was poor study habits, procrastination (still is an issue but I'm fixing it with a new management system I found out about that's popular on the Internet and I have gotten so much done and felt my blood pressure drop [even though I don't have high blood pressure])

That I am aware of. I'm planning to get my first internship next summer (this summer idk since most of the positions are already taken so I could just do volunteer work that is similar to what I' currently doing or something else to build my networking). I just hope that my efforts pay off next year since I am desperate to get my foot in the door and I'm willing to do whatever it takes to get me to where I wish to be.Β

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

SailorEnergy In reply to AidanInferno [2014-04-02 02:04:28 +0000 UTC]

:nu: just like this? :nu:

How many courses did you take last semester?

Procastination is a common problem, yep. :/

I did that with Smithsonian Insitution. Β  You mean getting a hoof in the door?

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

AidanInferno In reply to SailorEnergy [2014-04-02 02:09:13 +0000 UTC]

I tried to take 15 hours (along with a required 0 credit course) but Β had to dump Managerial Accounting since I was failing in it.

At least I have more control of it now.

YUP! I just hope I can get a chance since my GPA is probably not going to be stellar Β by the time I graduate (I'm going to rack up two more Cs this semester and only 2 Bs and an A ><. I just hate Managerial Accounting and Business Statistics....Financial Accounting was a piece of cake for me but Managerial is something else....)

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

SailorEnergy In reply to AidanInferno [2014-04-02 02:13:16 +0000 UTC]

That may be a bit too much. My limit is aboutΒ  5 to 6 courses per semester.

Interesting. There was a similar issue with Statistics for Scientists courses. only one course so only one professor for too many students. Crappy learning eniviroment. =_=

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

AidanInferno In reply to SailorEnergy [2014-04-02 02:16:15 +0000 UTC]

15 hours = 5 courses

I do fine when it comes to learning the material. It's just that I am a horrible test taker. My methods for studying for exams are not good (I do plan ahead for studying and all but everything I've tried has failed me)

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

SailorEnergy In reply to AidanInferno [2014-04-02 05:35:28 +0000 UTC]

That's 3 hours a course... I'm used to having courses that are a hour long. Science courses are usually a one hour lecture, and 2 hour labwork. It has been a while since I was in an university.

Hmm. :/ *thinking*

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

AidanInferno In reply to SailorEnergy [2014-04-02 17:35:40 +0000 UTC]

No, no. I'm talking CREDIT HOURS not class hours. Class hours are at least 50 min - 1 hr 15 min depending on the day you have the class.Β

My pleasure~

But fudge...3 hour classes? XD You would have to be a total nutjob to come up with that. That's almost like summer school classes.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

SailorEnergy In reply to AidanInferno [2014-04-03 03:11:25 +0000 UTC]

Yes, science courses, 1 hour lecture, 2 hour lab.

AidanInferno In reply to SailorEnergy [2014-04-03 03:18:22 +0000 UTC]

I haven't taken a science course at my university yet (although I most likely will next year during the spring semester)

Science is really useful.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

AidanInferno In reply to SailorEnergy [2014-04-03 17:58:36 +0000 UTC]

Of course it is (my Mom had a degree in biology and an MBA but retired after having me) although science honestly isn't my forte I am more of a basic math kinda guy and someone who can't do complex issues wellΒ

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

SailorEnergy In reply to AidanInferno [2014-04-03 21:04:44 +0000 UTC]

Say, something got me wonder. I know that there is Pegsus, Unicron and Land Horses in MLP but what about "Sea Horses?"

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

AidanInferno In reply to SailorEnergy [2014-04-03 21:09:02 +0000 UTC]

Those don't exist in MLP: FiM but, in G1 MLP (1980s) there were Sea Ponies in the pilot and I think in some of the other episodes. They would sing and were pretty cute XPΒ

And the races are actually Pegasi, Earth Ponies, Unicorns, and Alicorns (my species)
