YAY, drawing Rayman again!
It's his birthday once again. Now I looked at my previous pictures for this special day and I thought of drawing something else than your typical hero in front of a birthday cake.
Just recently I checked my old comics to see how my story developped. So I decided to pick one story where Rayman got to meet Ly in a strange dream that was originally going to be his nightmare full of Darktoons. I tried to make the atmosphere somewhat dreamlike for obvious reasons. Rayman and Ly are racing each other much like in Rayman 2 (I remember always coming last in these races). Meanwhile our small hungry Darktoons are planning a way of getting Rayman. It is not going to be easy when Ly is around with him
I wish this hero good luck in his next game, whether 2D or 3D and yes, I do still have patience.

Tilly is only a little kid-fairy. Probably the age of Charmy or Cream from Sonic. Way too young for Ray-dude.

Betina, the Rayman show technicality isn't canon to the main games. Besides, it only had 4 episodes. The whole thing was scrapped after episode 4...Sadly...
The other sisters of Betilla, again, they are technically his aunts...
And finally...
Barbara...it's the same as the TV show. Origins and Legends, and the other moble games that came with it, are their own canon universe, if you think about it, and therefore, they aren't canon to the original storyline that started with Rayman 1 in 1995.

Whoah, there is a lot to get through.
First of all, all Rayman games have barely any continuity connection.
-In the first game Rayman is not the only one of his kind and Betilla isn't mentioned as his mom. If anything, they are at least friends considering she and Magician often call him for help whenever Mr. Dark strikes. So as ridiculous as it sounds, you can ship them there.
-The second game is a different story. Rayman is the only one of his kind and Betilla is nowhere to be seen. Here is where Rayman gets his potential love Ly. All because of their interactions and this official artwork (which btw is cute)

-Rayman M/Arena features Tily which cannot be even considered as Rayman's love interest since both games don't feature any story to begin with. This is the first game where Ly got scrapped.
-Rayman 3 doesn't feature neither Betilla nor Ly so here we go. This is the second game where Ly was scrapped and that kind of makes me mad. But at least she appears in the Gameboy Advance version.
-Rayman Origins is where the game tries to have a proper origin of Rayman by making Betilla his creator... at least according to the trailer. The manual says he was created by all 5 nymphs. So yes, the relationship of mother and son is considered there. BUT, the Playstation Vita version does include Rayman's Psycho wife (that's right, not just his girlfriend, literal wife)

-Rayman Legends is continuation of Origins. Barbara is just another friend of Rayman's. Just because she is a girl that doesn't mean she is immediately his love interest.
In conclusion there are at least 4 ways to see Rayman and his vision of love. And I have nothing against any of these as the series proves to have problems with continuity. I could also include Rayman's scrapped girlfriend from Raving Rabbids but I guess it won't be even considered here anyway.
EDIT: when it comes to the cartoon, again, just because Betina is a girl that doesn't mean she is immediately Rayman's love interest.

Sheesh, I guess Ubisoft couldn't make up their mind on making Betilla Rayman’s perminint mom for awhile. XD Either that, or the magician might have created him with his...*snort* Magic. XP

Yeah, I understand and agree with the fact that just because a random girl shows up, and barely gets to know who Ray-dude is, it doesn't mean that she is automatically a girlfriend.

Now now, everyone has got different tastes and probably hasn't got a chance to play Rayman 2.
I personally grew up with Rayman 3, so Ly was still kind of strange to me when I was growing up.
There is a chance that the team behind Rayman 3 didn't know how to work with Ly considering that Michel Ancel was working on Beyond Good and Evil at that time. (Check their release dates and you will see).
And if they were serious with RaymanxLy, then surely it would appear in Rayman Origins where Ancel was working on it again. Instead he went back to original Rayman style.
I read on wiki about Tawna Bandicoot and it says that Naughty Dog themselves thought she was kind of inappropriate for a kids game. If soccer moms were behind it then it should be stated there. Besides, she appears again in CTR Nitro Fueled.

Hm. I always thought that the soccer moms' complaints were part of the reason behind her dissaperance. At least I was told that by another site, which I cannot remember what it was.

well Ancel did said he will work on the 4th rayman 3d game after he finishes with Beyond Good and Evil 2 and Wild. However BGaE2 is still in day zero.

Ancel needs a lot of motivation to pull that off. You can't just create stories without a soul. I love when games have some kind of story.
