They were so cute together. In this picture she was actually cleaning him and he ended up falling asleep in her lap during cleaning. We would find them snugging all around the house. lol

I still have GreyKitty, sadly her best friend Nugget died due to old age/heart attack.
Nugget and GreyKitty were best friends and were so cute together. I have picture of them snuggling under the xmas tree, on the chair, and one time when I found them on my bed. lol
GreyKitty is 6/7 years old and I have a 14 year old Orange Tabby. They both are very nice to rats.

Aww I'm so sorry to hear of your loss I hope GreyKitty was able to bounce back from his sadness quickly, with the help of your other kitty.
It so hard when we lose a beloved pet; and hard for the other pets as well...they are family!

Oh she's tried making friends with the other rats like she was with Nugget but they are nothing like Nugget when it comes to the personality he had. She was on the road to making friends with this rat Bubby I had but sadly he died out of the blue.
She's gone through 3 rattie friends. I had one rat that whenever I took him out of the cage she came running over so she could clean him.
She doesn't do much with our old cat, except eat all his food and out of nowhere attacks him by smacking his butt and running away, lol

Is that really gonna go ok? And in the other pics with the kitten as well? I'm always afraid the cat will change his or her mind and go 'rawr!' and then ... gone ratty

I've had rats for 18 years now and one of the cats I have is going to be 13, so he grew up with rats. GreyKitty was perfectly fine with Nugget. One time GreyKitty smacked Nugget in the butt (not using her claws) and he stood up and actually slapped her in the face with both hands. LOL.
The cats I have are great around the rats.
As for the GreyKitten (not the cat in this picture) Thought it was probably another cat. My eeldest rat Lillian is well behaved as well as her daughter Ellie. The rat in this picture was Lillian's twin brother. I've raised my rats from generations so they learn from the begining the cats are okay, as same goes for the cats.
With GreyKitty and Nugget they had a bond. When Nugget died earlier this year you could tell GreyKitty knew she lost a friend.

ah ok, so it's true that, when being brought up from little with other animals, it usually works out. I'm just always scared they might decide at some unexpected time to hone their instinct and nom...

and poor GreyKitty, misshing his ratty friend...

Well our cats just know better. Our eldest cat thats the 13 year old use to be an outside cat that would bring in mice and birds. He belonged to my older sister. She had him since he was born. We got him when he was 2 years old. But my sister use to have a rat as well so when he moved into the house with us it wasnt something new to him. But he lets rats walk and sleep on him.
And also GreyKitty, the one that loved Nugget use to be an outside cat and killed mice and whatnot as well. And she didnt grow up around rats or anything. She use to belong to my Finace's older brother. But when we got her 3 years ago she automatically got along with the rats. It's like her hunting skills went out the window.
It really depends on how well your cats obey you and know from right and wrong. I guess our cats know that the rats are apart of the family and not toys.
But raising them together does really help.

Ah, good to know =^.^= I guess if they see other cats behaving themselves, they adapt easier to your household as well. And kinda awesome too, that they can separate mice outside from rats inside!
