pardon me, but... I don't think "NONE OF THE TILES/SPRITES BELONG TO NINTENDO OR GAMEFREAK, THEY BELONG TO PROPER ARTISTS (OR ME) CREDITED ABOVE FROM WHOM I GOT A PROPER PERMISSION" is a proper comment to leave at the end of your piece... as Pokemon belongs to NINTENDO. all 500+ pokemon belong to Nintendo. No 'ifs' 'ands' or 'buts'. Please remove it before someone from Nintendo decides to take a real interest and sue you for fraud.
As for the map, I like it. It shows a remake of one of the areas that I remember in one of the GAMEBOY ADVANCE versions of Pokemon. Probably EMERALD, probably FIRERED, probably LEAFGREEN, probably one of the other ones. The pokemart and the Pokecenter are exactly as I remember from the games.

SailorVicious In reply to Hawkbri [2010-12-16 20:35:26 +0000 UTC]
Also, it's not a remake!!! There was no Fruit Island in any game! It's MY OWN design! Also it's IMPOSSIBLE to remember both Pokecenter and Pokemart from any game since those two were designed by dA users, not GF nor Nintendo.

Hawkbri In reply to SailorVicious [2010-12-17 01:12:11 +0000 UTC]
... your OWN design? clearly, you fail at lying. The design of the Pokeball was envisioned by the creators of pokemon. The pokecenter is exactly the same as at least the Gameboy ADVANCE games. as for the pokemart, you may be right, as they tend to just be blocks. If I go to Cerebii.net or to one of the major pokemon information sites, or just go get another gameboy and pokemon games, will I find the exact same things? I think so.
The tiles? those are the exact same types. Grow up and stop lying. But I will say this: everybody uses those tiles. even Square Enix used the same tiles for their old games, and remakes of the original FF's.
as for the map. the design is different from what I remember, but it still reminds me of several areas, but I know there was never a fruity place in the games, so you would be correct.
Now... please stop bein a whiny bitch like darth vader and grow some balls to take criticism or comments and respond like a REAL PERSON, not a whiny little brat.

YOU shall stop! None of those tiles is taken from any games! They're all fanmade tiles, made by his friends! Which he has got permission from to use and gave them credit! So ffs stop insulting him about lying and taking stop, because I'm really tired of you picking on him! Its not even his fault that he got a DD!
And he got guts! He is telling the truth! Wtf should he else do? If he said he took them from the games, THEN he would lie! Seriously man...

puppet account or.... white knight much? Young boy/girl, You never knew of the old games. You probably never even played the GBA games. Probably skipped them and went straight to the DS games. You skipped all the GREAT stuff. You missed the GB games. you missed two whole generations of handhelds, only to be misled, probably. I would HIGHLY suggest you go play them. and maybe get some skills at playing pokemon while you're at it.
I was one of the better-in-the-area pokemon collectors when it game to the electronic games. able to harvest rare pokemon, and able to track legendaries.
And yeah, I know it's not his fault he got a DD, in fact, I have NO problem with it. Cuz it's a GM's choice to fave it.
I WILL say this, if he gives credits to gamefreak, and Nintendo, and anybody else related to the POKEMON series, I will leave here happy knowing it's a fan-made map have him also remove that ugly emboldened worded set of words at the bottom of the description... it's ugly and don't belong... also puts him at risk of being in a lawsuit. I don't want to see that happen.

... I won't even answer the first part. It will be too much for you. You wouldn't even understand it.
And why should he credit GameFreak for something that they haven't made, but his friends has? And he is only posting that last bit because of people like you, saying its from the real games. ITS. NOT.

Fanmade. Credit DESERVES to go to the people that INSPIRED the idea. Get it right, dimwit, will ya? oh wait... y'er a dimwit, no helpin that... you troll.
If I ever make something based in SOMEBODY ELSE'S UNIVERSE. I FUCKING GIVE CREDIT. I don't just say "THIS IS ALL MINE! ALL MINE!", I say "this character is mine, the rest is all in the universe owned by this group/person" Please, note this: "THIS IS A FAN MADE PIECE OF ART, COPYRIGHT IS TO THE COMPANY, FAN-CREATED ITEMS CREDITED TO FRIENDS, MAP PUT TOGETHER BY __________ CREDIT GOES TO __________. POKEMON IS COPYRIGHT TO NINTENDO"

These kids are so stubborn as well, it's like "these sprites are from the games" "No they're not. They're similar and don't match any of the styles in the games." I have to disagree with you there, good sir.
The case here is not that this looks stolen, which it halfly is, which I will explain shortly, no, the case here is that the uploader here doesnt even give credit to Nintendo for the Design nor the game, and takes credit for all of it.
Now isnt that kind of, lets say, a silly thing to do?Especially when its DD'd?
You may not beleive it, but Deviantarts copyrights rules clearly present if that a art-piece is not 100% made by the uploader himself(although collabs are always acceptable if full credit is given.), it is considered to be auto-art-theft.Now, as much as harsh that can be seen, its actually kinda logical. This IS a place to improve, not to impress, afterall.
To sum it up, the designs are too similar to be original.(Even if the uploader made them with his/her friends.)Aaaaaand, lets not forget that he gave no credit to Nintendo, but actually TOOK full credit for the picture for himself and other people. So that means he subconciously took credit for the design too, so that makes things even more worse.
Oooh Oooh! And he didnt give credit to the full Pokemon title either.
I hope that we will have a clever conversation about this.

Listen, I can't see how anyone can actually get this into their heads.
THESE. TILES. ARE. NOT. PRESENT. IN. ANY. GAME.
These are entirely custom. Of course it emulates and represents tiles from the games, but these are from scratch. I urge you to find me a screenshot of any tiles identical to the ones here.

Pokemon BELONGS to Nintendo and THEIR work was used as a resource in this... "Art." So certain people should learn to give credit where credit is due or don't post their work at all.

Because they own Pokemon and the original sprite designs that influenced the sprites here?

i cannot understand why many people claim to be the authors of such sprites and not even mention the highly reference to those companies or games mentioned above.
anyways, good map
👍: 0 ⏩: 1
SailorVicious In reply to drhobo1987 [2010-12-14 08:21:35 +0000 UTC]
Why do they claim to be the authors of sprites? Because they actually MADE them, drawn them from scratch. Does it matter there's any reference to anything? If authors used other style someone'd say it has highly reference to other game, and this wouldn't stop because we don't have any influence on how somebody perceives a piece of art.
👍: 0 ⏩: 2
Slayergorilla In reply to SailorVicious [2010-12-16 14:54:33 +0000 UTC]
The problem here is not that you highly referrenced the original sprites,
but you didnt even give credit to Nintendo nor Gamefreak for the design and ideas of both the sprites and the Island.
They were the original ideas of those companies to start with, and you drawing them from scratch doesnt you own them.
👍: 0 ⏩: 1
SailorVicious In reply to Slayergorilla [2010-12-16 15:05:34 +0000 UTC]
This is not Nintendo's nor GameFreak's, sprites were drawn by my friends or me, I don't care there's "a highly referrence" that only few people can see. I could call it a Zelda map and then you'd see a highly reference to Zelda. I ain't bovvered.

Slayergorilla In reply to SailorVicious [2010-12-16 15:07:53 +0000 UTC]
You still didnt get the point.
Now let me ask you this.
Do you own Fruit Island?
Do you own Pokemon?
No?
Then why did you took credit for the whole picture and everything in it and didnt give credit to neither of the companies?

SailorVicious In reply to Slayergorilla [2010-12-16 15:13:51 +0000 UTC]

Slayergorilla In reply to SailorVicious [2010-12-16 15:19:59 +0000 UTC]
And you now you skipped the Pokemon part.
Heavily influenced sprites, yes?
Also a Pokemon fan-map, yes?
Then why no credit?
This was simply a question.
But yet you skip half of the question and start insulting me for trying to have a nice swift afternoon chat.
Come on now, another persons thought can be proved wrong, as you proved my lack of info on this map, but you cant just insult someone just because you found one of their, lets say, fails.
I hope you understand it now.And reply, lets say, friendlier.
And another thing, you may own the design of the map itself, but the sprited influences deserve atleast faint credit too.I mean come on.You may have drawn those sprites with your friends, but I really dont think none of you have the full permission from Nintendo to take full credit of sprite designs that you got heavily-influenced from.
👍: 0 ⏩: 1
SailorVicious In reply to Slayergorilla [2010-12-16 15:53:30 +0000 UTC]
Most of the users don't credit GameFreak nor Nintendo even if they redraw ORIGINAL DESIGNS OF EXISTING POKEMON. Why should I credit Nintendo or GameFreak if none of these companies own any of used tiles or designs? Just because I told it's Pokemon map? Now I can tell you it's not and I just used my friends tiles, which still have NOTHING TO DO with Nintendo nor GameFreak. (OK, about this very map, I used Lugia design to make a statue, but what about others?). None of the tiles were ripped or based of GameFreak, it's just my friends who called it Pokemon, but it could be called Zelda or whatever as well. It's you who see heavy influence, but there are a lot of people that couldn't tell if it's Zelda or Pokemon until they were informed about that.
👍: 0 ⏩: 1
Slayergorilla In reply to SailorVicious [2010-12-16 16:01:05 +0000 UTC]
Just to make this clear, people stealing and not giving credit doesnt mean other people can do it too.
Why is it so hard to give credit a single company? If your friends have told you that they made these sprited Pokemon themed, that means Nintendo, or Gamefreak if you want, atleast requires a faint credit for copyright uses.
Nothing to do with Pokemon?
There is PokeCentre and a PokeShop in this map.Im pretty sure those things belong to Gamefreak, as their names and designs have been copyrighted.
