spent last night sketching this. i was reading about Mortarion and i think i just got carried on. a lot of details all around, and i think it will make a great base for a painting
C&c are more than welcome, if i missed something out or if there are details, related to the character's background, that i need to add plz let me know.

Due to how slow my computer is at the moment, as I scrolled down, I thought this was a ship until I saw a detailed head. Boy, how wrong I am to take assumptions.

I know from what I saw from all of your gallery, but the top half without looking at the bottom half made it look like a ship for some reason.

His form is great and i quite like the armor design, but i think it would be better if you make the line-work a bit cleaner to truly appreciate the details on his armor.

Hey, thanx mate. well normally if i am sketching something i will go into the effort to clean it up, but lately i started to sketch just to the level where i can c the form enough for me to paint on top of it. oh and if did clean the sketch then i will start to like it and i will feel guilty to cover it with paint >_<

My bad 
Somehow I get put off when I try to paint digitally over a very rough sketch...I try to make it like a finished B&W rendered sketch before I lay the covers over them, but I'm not great at recognizing values when it's in colour, so I try to have a Black and white preview of it first :s

well when it comes to digital painting, you can go with both ways and you will get the same result. sometimes i paint the whole thing in black and white, specially for the complicated things, and then put an Overlay layer of colors on top. sometimes i think its much faster to go this way, but i prefer to go with the direct colors, i just feel more relieved to c the mood of the painting in color from the start, u know making sure i got the mood right

As for Mortation himself, he looks great (well as great as a follower of Nurgle can look anyway, lol) and I know the foreshortening on the scythe is technically accurate but visually it throws me off a bit, maybe it's jut me, maybe adding more depth will look better, otherwise it looks epic

sure i will come back to the scythe, probable will redraw it. it needs to be somehow a mechanical weapon and not just normal blade, something like a power sword.

That is a really good job. Mortarion also has The Lantern, a relic plasma pistol. Not sure if I can see it.
But I love this. It is an amazing job.

Actually, looking at it again, I would also suggest giving the scythe more depth, by fixing those line and giving perhaps some rust or something. I like the exaggerated shape. Again, it looks really really nice.

post Heresy, but not at the stage of a Daemon Prince, not sure what is that suppose to be, i know Fulgrim coz there is a picture showing his state of a Daemon Prince. but i like the 40k armor, more iconic in my opinion.

His Daemonprince look is boring - more or less the old hooded skeletal guy with a scythe. (Check out Lexicanum, there's a picture of the Apocalypse mini)
If this is post-Heresy, no remarks on his appearance. I suppose that's a hood, not hair? Morty is bald.

i kind of agree with u, Nurgle is the least interesting among creating Daemon Princes, it can get creative sometimes, but i prefers the other Gods over him.

Well, normal Nurgle Princes look just gross. Insofar, Morty got lucky. It's just not that visually interesting, because it is so cliche.
