I'm a person who is very skeptical of Revolutions. Most revolutions just replace the old tyranny with a new one and in many cases the new one can be far worst than the old one. So when President Mohammed Morsi made the power grabs recently by dissolving the Parliament and issuing Executive Orders giving him sweeping powers overriding the Judiciary I laughed at how I expected such a thing to happen. He and his allies are pushing through a new Constitution that will give the Egyptian government sweeping and dangerous powers over the people.
I'm a little surprised by how many Egyptians have gone out to protest the Presidents power grab and have managed to get him to pull back on his executive orders. I'm still skeptical that the proposed Constitution will be defeated, but I'm always opened to being pleasantly proven wrong.

Big congrats to Egypt. This will (hopefully) show other countries that the collective power of the people can put an end to any totalitarian regime and bring freedom their way too.

Oh, I'm sure we'll be seeing more revolutions soon. Just as the American Revolution sparked off revolutions in France and Latin America, if Egypt successfully establishes a new government, it may well encourage others to do the same.

It was actually France that started this whole revolution thing.

Except that the American Revolution inspired the French one. The financial troubles France incurred helping in the American Revolution only contributed to the unrest in France.

You might want to check your facts, mate. King Louis XVI helped out with the American Revolution because of the Anglo-French rivalry. The French Revolution started in 1789, a while after the American Revolution ended.

Well, as a matter of fact, it was the French Revolution and Humanistic ideals of the proclamation of Human Rights which in turn sparked off the revolutions in the Amercias; but still one can relate the tought and of course we all hope for a wave of democratization (but not USA intervention nor violence) on middle east

Well, yes. When the US tries to nudge a country in a certain direction, we end up with people like Castillo in Guatemala, or the Shah in Iran, which, of course, led to the situation there finding a way to devolve further.
The best we can hope for is that other nations do not intervene unless those trying to establish a new, more democratic government ask for it.
