Quite cool! Why only 4 colours?

Well I think it looks good. Very unusual, I like the idea of instead of making it as colourful and wonderful and complex and artistic as possible, there's a quite subtle beauty in using as few colours as possible.

"hasn't realized he's dead yet"
In the he's too stupid to realize or he just doesn't feel dead yet kind of way?

Ah I didn't consider denial, that's an interesting way to go. Ignoring death, makes the rat even crazier. Nice!

As some one who utterly abused turquoise at art school, I give this palette the thumbs up of approval!

You used 3, technically, I wouldn't count the background (I counted multiple times)
I like it. It's very interesting.

A perfect piece on how to hide your pixels without AA. Choosing angles that work best goes a long way in pixel art.
Did you study the subject, by chance? Or did you mostly teach yourself?

I've learnt pixel-art mostly by myself. I have looked up some tutorials when i was starting out, but most of my experience was gained through doing lots and lots of experimenting, and of course studying other peoples stuff very closely.
As for this piece, I looked up a lot of pictures of rat-skeletons on google and then worked very slow and steady on converting the feel of the figure into my style.

Very nice! The four color limit and the angles really give it a unique feel.
