the origin of heresy-----
The Lord of the Hearth was once approached by a human who stood not before him in worship, but bore a singular request - an Eye of Heaven - through which to craft a doorway to usher in an era of enlightenment for mankind.
The firmament came alight in a blaze of gold, the stones of the pantheon molten and bubbling, pillars cracking from the heat. Yet, though their machinery was reduced to slag, they were left unscathed; their engrossment remained staunch and refused to wane even in the face of their certain demise.
Later I inquired as to why he’d obliged them, to which he responded:
“Humanity will contrive its own devastation. The torches lit to line the path to innovation will only heap the pyre of self-immolation. I see no reason not to indulge a curious fool in a momentary farce of triumph. But do not mistake my lenience for sympathy, consider this instead a personal experiment into the nature of cyclicality.”
Arrogance it seems- confines itself not exclusively to the hearts of humanity.
