I recently got into drawing animals with pastels and a lot of time people mistake them for photos as well.

this is so detailed!!! You know what, I didn't dare to pick up oil pastels again since I messed up with it on our poster making contest

I say go for it, oil pastels aren't my cup of tea though, this was actually done with chalky pastels, I think they're easier to work with and more forgiveable because you can erase them easier. Haha a lot of people say they are messy, that's true, but they are so much fun to work with.

the same way you would a pencil or colored pencils. Just look for the colors that make up the picture. When you look at a tree you don't just see brown and green, you see blue, a little bit of yellow, light brown, dark brown, black, white, light blue etc. That's how it works you mix like colors to make it look like a photograph would.

the due date for it was one week, I think with all my pastel pictures it'd take me a long time to draw it out but i'd procrastinate on the coloring and so I'd do it all in one night. Not the best way to draw and color something that's timed lol.

ya, i'd stay up late into the night finishing my artwork. In fact this picture I had actually finished the day of the deadline, in my government class.

well I often stay up all night finishing, but I rarely finish it the day of the deadline. well, most of my stuff i just do on my own and doesn't have a deadline, but the stuff that does. but finishing it at the very last minute has been known to happen before...I'm such a procrastinator haha!

Yeah, true. Sometimes I don't finish stuff at all if i don't have a deadline. It'll just sit on my computer or desk (depending on whether it's traditional or digital) forever. Or i might go back to it the next year

I have some other pictures i'm going to scan in later on tonight, unfortunately the pictures are bigger then the scanner, that's my only problem.
