Aaaah this is one of the first drawings I finished in 2019 ´7`~~<3333 Though to be honest, I started this a few months back hahahaha //bless Rev for the endless patience ;u;<333

A little bit of context to the character: Astoria is a god, forced into taking up the role of "God of war" due to a deal he made with another god, in order to bring back a young child from the dead. He is naturally gentle and soft-spoken, but also a mysterious and dangerous individual, with many conflicted feelings regarging his form.
Generally, I was given a loooot of freedom with this illustration. Rev gave me a few basic outlines which.... I kinda put aside while brainstorming aaaH SORRY _(:3_)TL I was so captured by Astoria's backstory, that I drew this as one of the three concept sketches that I showed to Rev /)u(\ SO WELP, IN THE END WE PICKED IT AND THE ILLUSTRATION WENT A TOTALLY DIFFERENT DIRECTION THAN REV INITIALLY INTENDED I THINK HAHAHAHA SORRY

Basically, I wanted to draw Astoria looking at his reflection on a river's surface, looking conflicted at his form, and also seeing mirages of his dead friend Q3Q //SORRY THE BACKSTORY IS JUST TOO TOUCHING HNGGG AND IM A SUCKER FOR ANGST AND SOBS SORRY NOT SORRY

Composition-wise, THIS WAS SO MUCH FUN AAAAAAAAAAAH >7< But also super challenging *^* I think there are things I could improve perspective-wise haha I took a bit of artistic liberties with the perspective to simplify some parts, but I hope that's ok and that it looks good/pleasing to the eye QuQ Also I want to go back and made the image a bit wider to fit wallpaper sizes, so I will update this deviation again once I do that in the next week or so /0/
