Your kimono that you've made are very lovely. ^^ I wish I had bought enough material to lengthen my sleeves, but I didn't have enough to. ^_^; So mine is just going to be shorter, but that's ok! I've wanted a kimono for a loooooong time now, and now I can make myself one!!! hehe

Hee... in April I did my first cosplay as Rikku from FFX-2 (mainly to titillate my boyfriend, a big gamer). *sighs* there are no good cosplay conventions in NZ... the closest we get is Armageddon, a pop culture convention. Of course, it means that there`s this tiny bunch of anime fans and a whole big heap of dumb wrestling fans. And Trekkies. c_c; This year there was a Yuki -and- Shoichi from Gravitation (both girls) and a Chii and my friend made her whole group amazing costumes from Angel Sanctuary.
Next year I really want to make an Alice in Wonderland cosplay for it though... But university might mean no money spare for costumes. But maybe I can make a wa-loli yukata... (Japanese-style lolita).

this one i used a pattern for, although they are sooooo super simple its not even funny.
its just two long rectangles that are the same size (sleeves), then one long gigantic one that stretches from the front of your ankle, over the sholders, and to the back of the ankles (that one has a long slit made up the middle halfway, then a neckhole i just draw), and then a long, narrow peice for the collar.
just get more fabric and tie it around your waist, and there you go ^_^
the special thing about them is the fabric, not the difficulty.
ooohh i really should post my cosplays... i have a bunch, and i'd love to take more pictures with me in them (i only have a few from conventions). i've done Kagome from Inuyasha, Priss from Bubblegum Crisis Tokyo 2040, Milly from Trigun, a guy from Canadate for Goddess for , Tira Misu from Sorcerer Hunters aka Baketsuru(sp?) Hunters, Eiri Yuki from Gravitation, Sakura from Cardcaptor Sakura, and i just finished Roy Mustang from Fullmetal Alchemist. i'm working on Al from FMA for , and i have many that i sort of started and never finished, like Mamimi Sameji from FLCL, and the manager from Masion Ikkoku. i want to make Edward Elric of FMA for my best friend, so me, her, and Kinde can cosplay as a group.

Thanks so much. I`m working on the `spring` drawing now... Summer and Winter are posted on my page if you`d like to see them.
^_^ (I also just saw that you`re only 17... AMAZING sewing skills. *applauds*) My friend wants to be a costume designer - well, she`s already designed and sewn amazing cosplay costumes - but she made a black satin kimono with embroidery for her school ball... and THEN DIDN`T WEAR IT.
Do you use a pattern for your kimono, or design them from scratch?

Would you mind if I used this picture as a reference for a drawing of mine? I`ve been searching for a kneeling-kimono model in order to draw a tea ceremony (as the `autumn` of my seasons series) and this is absolutely the most beautiful pose I`ve found. Gorgeous work on making the kimono!
