Fantastic, I love this kind of art.
It seems to me that the face is on the belly because the bright red is the most recognizable and striking part of the American Robin.

I do too

I modeled the face on the belly after after the sun because of a story I remember from my childhood. I'm not sure where it comes from, just that the Robin was the keeper of the sun and that's why his stomach was red.

Ah, that's interesting!
There's so much spirituality in these drawings, but some people don't go far enough to actually understand the stories that the outlines tell.

I see them every so often. Lately I've been seeing more Magpies and Bluejays than anything else.
