Description Denver

"C'mon Kenny," Cartman holds out his hand and Kenny thinks maybe he should be touched by the concern. That Cartman even cares in some small way - enough to want to bring him back. For Cartman, that's a lot. He should be flattered or some shit.

But he's not.

"No." He says. Just that. Just 'no'.

The look on Cartman's face is priceless. Kenny idly wishes he could capture that look and save it for a better time because he's sure he'd find it hilarious.

"You prefer to stay out here and freeze?"

Kenny looks at him, long and steady. There's nothing else he can do. He's tried again and again and no one understands. Denver isn't a place... not really. Denver is a dream. A poor boy's dream of somewhere better. Maybe Kenny needed to see it for himself to remember that Denver is just a city. Denver won't fix anything. "It doesn't matter." He says, when he can find words again. His voice drags, slurring on his lips with the heaviness in his body. There's something else too, something that Cartman doesn't hear. Something that Cartman can't hear.

Why does it matter 'where'? You won't remember anyway.

Something hits him in the chest and he creaks his head around to look at Cartman, mouth opening. The words die on his tongue as he looks at Cartman's fat bare fingers pulling into the sleeves of his coat. It doesn't register for a moment... not until he glances down at his own lap where Cartman's gaudy yellow mittens are flopped shapelessly. "What?"

Cartman doesn't look at him. He has a bored look on his face, lips twisted with something like a sneer. "Poor and stupid. Take the fucking mittens, Kenny."

His hands don't really fit. They hang loosely and he has to grip them from the inside to hold them in place. That doesn't matter though. What matters is their breaths in the fogging air as they slog through the snow back toward the bus stop. What matters is the fact that Eric's mittens are big enough to fit two hands if they're pressed close enough.

Denver's just a city. But that's okay. It can be a dream too.

And that's good enough.

Yeah. That's pretty damn good.

I'm oddly fond of this pairing, though I don't draw it much. It seems hard to find.
