Those aren’t real. I draw practically every face the same. It doesn’t matter. As long as they’re happy with what they can do, so be it.Β

Dude they're real. And it does matter if you want to get better at drawing.

Whatever, people saying that the same face/body syndrome is bad are stupid. It’s a pointless β€˜syndrome’ people came up with to make young or popular artists feel bad about themselves.Β

im not saying that everyone has to get rid of it, it's something people have to work on if they want to make it far on the art industry

Not quite. A lot of more simple cartoon companies have same face syndrome. Cartoons such as mlp, the main family for the amazing world of gumball, star's the forces of evil, gravity falls. It all depends what you're going for in the art world, what career you're planning on having.

yes, but imagine you're giving a little girl's face the same face as a grown ass man. it doesn't match, does it? i just think you have to experience with faces more.

Once again, it all depends on the art style, what audience the art is meant for, and so forth. I do agree on learning face shapes and bodie shapes, but for cartoon styles, it's not THAT big a deal. With more realistic styles, yes, absolutely, do that, work on face and body shapes, do make sure everyone looks different, that is important. But with cartoony art, it really all depends on what your audience is, how different characters are, if a cartoon, the budget of your cartoon also factors in. At the and of the day, it really depends on what the art is meant for. And seeing as Susan's still a learning artist, she should be learning anatomy of simple body shapes before she even tries tackling different face shapes, shading, and simple things firsr, which she has been from what I've seen from following her for quite a bit, so she's doing fine for now.

Yes, I agree, she and other learning artists should work on anatomy first. It's way more important. But even with cartoon styles, it's also important that the faces and body-shapes are not too similar. No, not all animated series have more diversity in faces and bodies, but most do. Face and body structure can really help designing characters: it can describe their personality, age, sex, etc.

Yes, I agree with that whole-heartedly! But, nowadays in the "animation meme community" everyone is obsessed with the whole geometric shapes type of same face syndrome, and honesty, I don't know if it's me personally, but, I think it's hideous. I just don't Like those kind of shape based art styles. Never have. Like, in say, a simple cartoon like freaking Spongebob, they had very similar but different eye shapes, that showed personality, but weren't hideous and so, well, odd looking. Like Spongebob himself had blue eyes with eyelashes to make him look innocent and happy, whilst Squidward had square pupils, as in he was a but of a square bland, pointy, and very exact. The eyes are unique and easy to tell apart, without as much exaggeration. Idk, I just don't like whole "same face syndrome can only be cured by making all your characters only shapes", because it's just not the only way to fix it. I guess that's really my only problem with the whole same face syndrome thing, is that since Sleepykinq showed how he fixed his, everyone thinks it's the only way to do it, and it's annoying tbh. No shade to Sleepy tho, as he didn't really do anything wrong! It's just the people who don't quite understand how this all works.

I agree with all of that gjfhdlgjk

While it's important to work with shapes, it looks rly bad if you use too much of them,,
