Goten y Trunks se propusieron participar y demostrar que ahora, al ser más grandes, podrían dar una gran sorpresa a los demás guerreros.
En el sorteo les tocó Broly, el poderoso guerrero saiyajin que habían conocido hace poco tiempo. Los muchachos se mentalizaron en no intentar batallar fuerza a fuerza contra ese titan de quién tanto hablaron sus padres... Por lo cuál, su estrategia seria utilizar variadas técnicas que de seguro él no estaría acostumbrado a enfrentar, ya que debía ser algo inexperto en estrategias de batalla.

Gotenks, sin guardarse nada, comenzó con el Ssj fase 3 y atacó con todo. A lo que el saiyajin de raza pura responde esquivando a la vez que haciendo gala de su inmenso poder.

Las llamativas y burlonas técnicas de la fusión no se hicieron esperar, sorprendiendo he incluso irritando al colosal guerrero.
Gotenks llevó sus poderes al limite, pero Broly utilizo un poder devastador para contrarrestarlo.
Ante esta situación Gotenks se dispuso a usar su carta maestra...

Empieza a lanzar muchos super fantasmas al aire sin intención de ataque, acto seguido, se abalanza frente a Broly de manera casi suicida! Sorpresivamente aparece a espaldas de Broly! Inmediatamente crea unos aros de energía los cuales atrapan al enorme guerrero.
Broly parece no poder escapar y Gotenks envía a toda su legión de superfantasmas que estaban en las alturas a atacar y acabar con su enemigo.
¡Parece el plan perfecto! No obstante... ¡¡El Broly aprisionado, era solo el Zansoken!! por lo que todos los fantasmas impactan directamente a Gotenks, sacándolo así de la plataforma y dejando a Broly como vencedor.
Un Broly victorioso y sonriente desciende de los aires, mirando al ya derrotado Gotenks.
Broly: No se confíen, no soy únicamente poder bruto. Goku me ha enseñado algunos trucos.

Así concluye la primera ronda y las semis finales ya estarían definidas:

Broly seems unable to escape and Gotenks sends his entire legion of super ghosts that were in the heights to attack and destroy his enemy.
Sounds like the perfect plan! However ... The imprisoned Broly, it was only the Zansoken !! so all the ghosts directly impact Gotenks, thus removing him from the platform and leaving Broly as the victor.
A smiling, victorious Broly descends from the air, staring at the already defeated Gotenks.
Broly: Don't trust me, I'm not just raw power. Goku has taught me some tricks.
