is there any particular reason that you chose that pattern for his shirt? or was it just the shirt he was wearing at the time of the reference?

Well with a closer look at the description, I looked at the link and it WAS on his shirt. The main reason i was asking was because the broken style didn't really seem to go with the whole "flowing water" element. Beyond that it looks great.

amazing, the best bit of this painting is how the light catches him, it really helps give it a water light illusion.
