this buddy finally got to go home last month!!! a gift plush for dana (Ampersalf ) of her character/fakemon wick ! this took me forever to finish, not just because it got pretty involved, but also because i took so many breaks…including a several-month break…hahaha (i suck)
from head to foot, he is 1’6” tall. but measured from the tip of his tail to the tips of his ears, he is just a few inches shy of 3 feet long! definitely one of the larger plushies i’ve made. i mainly made him so big so he would be very good for hugs!
most of his larger parts are machine sewn, but even more is sewn entirely by hand. he has 23 spines/quills on his back (4 more on his chest) and SEWING ALL OF THOSE SURE WAS A THING. each layer of 4 or 5 spines is attached as a row but it was still an awful lot of work hahaHAHA
his tail flame doesnt have any stuffing in it, because i thought it added a neat translucent effect. when held up to a light you can see the tip of his tail that’s hidden inside, kinda like i imagine you would be able to see the tips of pokemon tails in an actual flame…heheh…
his bandages are half an inch wide, and they are a whopping six and a half feet long…each! the ends are simply tucked underneath the rest of the wrappings, so the bandages can be adjusted, placed elsewhere, or removed entirely if desired!
the furry majority of his body is made of jo-ann’s “ultra cuddle fabric,” (which is basically microfleece?). details (his eyes, claws, paw pads, tail flame, and bandages) are made of anti-pill fleece! his mouth is just two long stitches of embroidery floss, and he’s stuffed entirely with regular ol’ polyester fiber. he doesn’t have any wire in him or anything, so he is very floppy and cuddle-able! he was a LOT of fun to make, and i’m so happy with how he came out!
