I kept telling my friends and everybody else that Avatar Korra was as good as the first Avatar series, but no one wanted to hear. I thought maybe they grew old of this?
I kept watching the show and enjoyed each season and villain. Yes, it was not as good as the first series but still...different.
The last episode of Korra just killed me entirely.
Why did they have to ship her with Asami? Why make her lesbian/bi? Why end it on such a note?
Then I remembered that nothing is done just for fun. They USED the show to grab our attention and make people more tolerant towards same-sex relationship. They shipped the unlikely couple to surprise us.
Now what do we have from this? A lot of discussions, shipping and romance and probably never ever a third series.
Never go into politics if you don't want to get wet.

You're not paying attention through Book 3 and 4?
"Why did they have to ship her with Asami? Why make her lesbian/bi? Why end it on such a note?"
Because, Korra and Asami perfectly complement one another, their opposite personalities and abilities perfectly complement one another, this can be seen even in Book 1 and 2.
They didn't become bisexual, because their sexual orientation was never mentioned until the end (that would be bisexuality). The problem is that people without much thought concluded that they were straight, although it has never been mentioned. This is our society, unfortunately, we still immediately assume that someone is straight.
"They shipped the unlikely couple to surprise us."
Only for those who couldn't accept the possibility that two women can fall in love with each other.
They fall in love with each other because they are always, ever since they became friends, supporting each other, were always willing to help and comfort each other when one of them was feeling sad or been injured.
"Never go into politics if you don't want to get wet."
Sexual orientation should not be a political issue, unfortunately we do not live in an ideal world.

I believe I paid enough attention to each season and did actually see that they complement each other, like jedi and troopers in starwars. But for it to grow into actual love was unexpected and unlikely. I accept friendship or love for a friend but this I did not see coming, despite being one of the few tolerant people here where I live.
So actually each strong woman who can speak up for herself is gay? Korra was strong physically but always weak mentally. You could say the same about Aang but he was just a boy then.
In my series, I just want to sit, relax and watch but Korra turned into a political campaign and just could not teach me anything that I didn't know yet.
That why it actually lost value to me, personally. (I repeat, personally to me).
In my rankings list It will be in the top 50 but always behind avatar Aang. I believe Aang is somewhere in my top 20?
I have to check.

" But for it to grow into actual love was unexpected and unlikely. "
Why is for some people so unexpected and unlikely that their close and intimate friendship developed into true love? It seemed pretty obvious, especially since the last episode of Book 3, and in the first few episodes of Book 4, and especially in episodes 7 and 8.
Ironically, their relationship may be the only relationship with the actual development, all other relationships have begun as love at first sight.
"So actually each strong woman who can speak up for herself is gay? Korra was strong physically but always weak mentally. "
Korra and Asami are not the only strong women who can speak up for herself in the show, it has dozens of strong female characters who are not lesbian or bisexual (as for example, Beifong family), but only because the two main female characters became a couple and declared that they are bisexual, people lose their shit.
"In my series, I just want to sit, relax and watch but Korra turned into a political campaign and just could not teach me anything that I didn't know yet."
Does anybody remember when the abolition of slavery, women's rights, minority rights, interracial marriage were political questions, and see where we are now, history is once again repeated, this time with the rights of LGBT minorities and gay marriage.
In a few years people will wonder how it was possible that the human rights issues in the past have been turned into political issues.

yeah, you're right. I agree with you.
The only thing that bothers me is that Korra and Asami were not even friends, the creators forced it into our throats. Remember the cheating and different personalities. Yeah, living through battles makes people closer. They were more like collegues and now its love?
In this particular instance I don't care about politics, gay, and etc. I just care about the show.
It felt forced on us. Came out of nothing like a precise left hook.
And I don't like surprises.
They could have made her lesbian/bi from the beggining of season 1 episode 1, I PERSONALLY would not be offended and simply would not care. But throwing it at us in the last episode of the last season ever, is an insult.
By this, I am offended as a fan, that they were little sissies and feared to do something like this but got enough courage to "shock" us in the last episode because whatever, the show is about to end, we have nothing to lose.
That's how they looked.

"The only thing that bothers me is that Korra and Asami were not even friends..."
WTF?!
What are you talking about? They have been good friends ever since the episode 7 of Book 1!
Just re-watch the first two books, Korra and Asami were already good friends, despite a love triangle with Mako.
"Remember the cheating and different personalities."
Because of their different personalities they are perfect for each other, their opposing personalities and abilities perfectly complement one another.
"And I don't like surprises."
Strange I like when a movie, TV show, or book manage to surprise me, I call it a good thing.
"They could have made her lesbian/bi from the beggining of season 1 episode 1"
Why do people immediately assume that a character is straight, despite the fact that it is never explicitly stated anywhere? So what if they are bisexual, that's changed absolutely nothing about them, except if you're a butthurt about it.
If you think this happened out of nowhere in the final episode, you obviously have not been paying attention to their interaction in the last two books.
The only real surprise was that Bryke with that last scene are conclusively confirmed exactly what many suspected that happens between Korra and Asami.

"USED" is a pretty dumb word to use. This show obviously wasn't a show just to promote that. Like oh this show is just to brainwash people into acceptance!!! IT'S ALL ABOUT GAYS OH NO!!! >:v
It wasn't an unlikely couple and the only reason it wasn't shown off A LOT in the show was due to homophobes because they are disgusting and loud people who would have tried to get the show pulled off the air and knowing how shitty networks are they would have done it. The season ended because it was due to end so they finished it showing off a real canon ship that made people LITERALLY cry from joy.
I think it's wonderful as it creates a cute ship and shows off that these two awesome girl are bisexual! IT ADDS REPRESENTATION OF THE LGBTA COMMUNITY IN A KIDS SHOW DO YOU KNOW HOW AMAZING THAT IS? It's a small first step but i'm sure it will inspire a lot more acceptance in shows!
And Korra is known for dealing with adult matters so this one was a perfect way to end the whole series and it's a shame people are bashing it.
If you're upset about this then you don't know how seriously important this is. There needs to be more and more representation!!!

I totally agree with you.
I was not discouraged by them being gay and the ending but such a great show again was used for politics and not just art.
Also, I watched every episode and could not see that ship coming. I think I payed enough attention to each detail, hmm.
I understand that it is a small step towards to greated good but not in my beloved avatar series.
Now it will take even more for a 3 series to come out and I wished for a third series even before Korra even started, strange right? I have my hopes...
They could promote 'friendship' kinda andlet the Korra group (all 4 of em +animals) fly into space towards the sun rise.
