So, this doodle has a bit of headcanon behind it.
In the Eternal Diva movie, Sammy Thunder makes a cameo appearance in Layton's class. The cameo is of course meaningless, but I couldn't let go of the idea that Sammy signed up for archaeology lessons by mistake, thinking that learning about rocks was the same as learning to rock.
So now Layton is stuck with this guy who really doesn't know anything about archaeology, but he's determined to help him pass all the same. In turn, Sammy doesn't understand what digging up fossils has to do with rock music, but he trusts Layton's teaching and believes that he will qualify a full-fledged rock star, reading to tackle anything.

Haha. You came up with a very interesting interpretation as to the ramifications of that cameo. Very creative. This is also a pretty good drawing, and I especially like how you managed to make Sammy's hair look so 3-D. I could definitely see the professor doing his utmost to help Sammy pass (even if the whole thing had been a massive error). This could make for quite an intriguing story.

Totally! XD On that subject though, I always feel bad leaving negative reviews on Amazon. Like recently I bought a graphic novel because I wanted to fill a gap in my old skool Sonic knowledge, but in truth I really dislike the author of those stories as a person and find the stories themselves to be pretty horrible. But I do really like the publisher and want to support them regardless. How do you turn THAT into a review? XD

This was what I ended up writing:
"To be very blunt, I'm not a big fan of Ken Penders or the unfortunate drama he created for the Archie Sonic comics. However, the Knuckles the Echidna comics have been something that I've wanted to try reading (just to say that I have) for a few years now, hence why I picked up this handy reprint.
The world Penders creates for Knuckles is vastly different from that of his SEGA counterpart, as right from the get-go he pretty much drops the "last of his kind" angle Knuckles has to introduce tons of other echidnas. Whether that was a good choice or not comes very definitely down to each reader's view and personally this reader is wall-sitting on that regard. I don't think the choice was the best one, but I don't outright hate it either. However, as long as Archie keeps publishing reprints of the Knuckles comics I will continue to buy them. But I really wouldn't say that every Sonic fan is going to enjoy this particular spin-off from the main comics. If you are a Sonic fan who is new to the Archie Sonic comics then I'd wholly recommend checking out the current comics written by the amazing Ian Flynn (who although listed as an author here isn't the writer of this series) or the main line of Sonic Archives and Sonic Select backstories before going for this particular title."

There's loads of cameos that I miss too. xD Try pausing it on the shot of Layton's class then looking around, he's in there. So's Statchenscarfen, I think.
