If these lions were still around, it would be scary.

Am I the only one who is just awed by the fact that so many deadly animals are also so beautiful and majestic? It gives me mixed feelings about animals some times, because I love them, but theyβd probably eat me if we ever met face to face, and that thought makes me sad, yet respectful.

Were this lion alive today, it makes me wonder how much it'd alter Native American culture.

The American lion was an impressive feline, his exact taxonomy is heavily debated on weather he should be classified as Panthera leo atrox or his own species Panthera atrox,at the moment it is belived that he and the cave lion were sister species. Also the lions living in Beringia were cave lions, wheres the American lion lived south of the glacier from Alberta onwards.

very nice my friend but i think this is an almost medium american lion or have a size that it is between medium and minimum or small size of an american lion. some of lions size is larger or very larger that some of lion,s head length and body length is around or about 8-9 feet(2.4-2.7 meters)or even more and a weight more than even more than 900 ibs or more than 405 killograms. thanks for you,re great art my friend. graciasssss!!!!!

When I was working at the Page Museum (La Brea Tar Pits) They had this rope where they marked the length of modern day big cats, the Smilodon, and the good old American Lion (Giant Jaguar=/) and people were just baffled at how big that are. This is a good representation.

Thanks..Yes they are big.The American Lion is one of the largest felid,it is the longest of all felids. The Smilodon Populator is the largest. You mentioned as --( American Lion (Giant Jaguar). Is that confusion still going on ? I noted few people mentioned it was a Jaguar but many people said it is Lion only ??

Hey no problem. And yeah, I directly worked with the predator cart at the museum. Also yeah, every scientist in the museum still thinks it's a lion, but the curator did some paper on it with some other scientist and they decided to call it a jaguar due to their findings. The problem with their paper, I later found out, is that the other scientist based his findings on pictures of the skulls instead of having an actual skull or copy to work from; the basis of their findings is due to the skull being more like that of a Jaguar than a Lion. It's all crap lol

Ya..But if there was a Jaguar that size,it will be powerful than the American Lion.

They're saying that the American Lion doesn't even exist; that it is closer related to the Jaguar as far as its anatomy, but everyone disagrees with him.
