a calligraphy i did a while ago- it is on paper using a large calligraphy bamboo reed that i cut myself, and using blue ink mixed myself from colour powder with glue mixed in and with copper powder sprinkled on top.the text- arabic- reads "Mohamed- may peace be upon Him"

i haven't had proper classes in arabic typography, so my question might seem slightly elementary, why is there a meem under the word itself, is it to clarify that a meem has been written?
