someone's about to loose his head! Another one of those illustrations I've been working on for about a month on and off. Actually it was meant to look like concept art so I could put in my portfolio.
Idea was simple; a modern Scottish boy dragging his dragon pet.. but then as I was painting; the image took on a life of its on as the dragon started to look more and more menacing.. so I added the tongue to hint at what's to come

Is this any way based off of the How to Train Your Dragon books/movie? Just curious because this just seems very reminiscent of it.

It's not based on it, though I love the movie. I drew the initial sketch way before I heard about the movie. Though the idea/title are so similar; I'm surprised no one commented on it until now

lool I like it a lot, I love the dreamy effect and the angle.. and the small details you've paid attention to like the shading and the slight darkening in colors the lower you go
