Description I'm not sure who this is to be honest. I had gotten the reference from a book and hadn't noted which one it was that I took the final approved picture from.

Anywho, this is on scratchboard. I only did the rendering, the outlines was transferred with some chalk, so I only ever feel half proud about project like that and don't like taking full credit.
However, other than his left eye, overall I'm happy with it.

I just want to be clear - are you saying because you transferred the outline - but drew the rest of the picture you don't really get credit for producing a beautiful piece of work? How many people do you think can trace an outline and then do that??? You need to rethink that reasoning. There is nothing wrong with transferring an image outline to make sure you get the proportion correct. In fact MORE artists need to do that because there is a lot of art on here that is nice but could have been GREAT if the artist paid a little more attention to perspective and proportion. You have a gift and to take anything away from what you accomplished in this picture is criminal - it is BEAUTIFUL. I trace ALL my images by the way - do you think I shouldn't be proud of them?

No no it's super cool, but the guy himself looked like he had leprosy on his nose. Don't hurt me!

Wow, his whiskers look great! I didn't really notice the eye until you pointed it out. I don't think it detracts from the rest of it at all though. Very realistic!!

Wow... this is very good. One question: how did you draw the beard???

👍: 0 ⏩: 2

Samma-Jamma In reply to AvigailLandman [2008-09-11 23:50:13 +0000 UTC]

Actually, the beard was the most fast/easy/choatic and fun part to do!
With clayboard, you can buy a set of tools to work with. For the beard I used this one: [link]
It's thick wire all mangled together to give a cool stringy effect.
