Finally playing with some toned paper~
I was inspired by Brianna Cherry Garcia 's sketch seen here , and decided to have a go at it. It’s a whole new way of thinking, especially since you're drawing more of the highlights rather than the shadows. I referenced her Rapunzel sketch to get the technique down - where to put color; how to decide where to be white and where to darker the blacks; learning to let the grey stay grey (which is actually kind of hard - I keep wanting to add more color).
I’m excited to continue sketching this way. It’s interesting not having the white of the paper to fall back on.
