Description The basic standard uniform of the Ulster Loyalist Militias. A light grey tunic and cap reflective of the uniforms of the Young Citizens Volunteers. The tunic features six buttons reflecting the counties of Northern Ireland. The cap badge is a harp and crown reflecting the badge of the Ulster Defence Regiment. The colour of the facings (collar, shoulder straps, cuffs and cap band) of the uniform differ for each individual regiment. Those that are independent of or unattached to any formal unit have plain facings.  This uniform is standard for all county regiments. City regiments have more freedom to adopt different uniforms but items that are standard through all units are the orange and blue lanyard, cap badge, black belts and trousers. In county regiments drummers are identified by the braiding on their tunic. The braiding is the same colour as the regiment's facings. In City regiments musicians (including pipers and drummers) wear the reverse colours of the regiment's uniform. (i.e the tunic colour is the same as the facings of the non musicians and the facings the colour of the tunics of non musicians). Piper wear a cloak that features the colour of the facings.   All pipers (with the exception of the Scottish regiment and south Irish regiment) wear Ulster tartan kilts. The Piper's head dress may differ depending on unit but the Glengarry cap is the most common.
The Armagh Loyalist Militia Regiment wears green facings and the County shield on the right arm. Pipers wear a green Tam O'Shanter bonnet.
