In the first scene, it looks like Purple Guy isn't so happy about remembering his atrocity. Maybe he feels guilty, or he is just worried about what these ghosts will do to him in their anger. Either way, as the final child goes for his head, it is apparent that they're done playing games with him. His punishment seems to be near.
