Those are nicely chosen words to introduce Samuel's story. I like the style that he is drawn in, with thick heavy shadows. While creating dramatic contrast, they show well his anatomy, the folds in his jeans, and the angled surfaces of his weapon and metal parts. The drawing of him on the left is also shaded with contrast, but with the bright light the focus is taken by the brilliant white spaces on his face and hair. It's like he's the ghost of the old Sam, and though he looks sad, his appearance is clean and simply grey and white compared to the killer Sam in the front of the drawing.
The whole drawing is great.^^ We see two Sams, and the words at the bottom describe each one.
