I like this one. And I must say, I completely agree with having it b&w.

First of all: Composition!

I'd crop a bit away from the top off it, to put the dogs eyes and face into the top left corner for the rule of threes. Besides, the lower format would give the picture a more calm feeling, which I feel your aiming for. I'd also use a smaller f-number to get the background more blurry, as to not take attention away from the dog's expression.

It's also a tad bit noisy. Personally, I'm not a big fan of noise in photos, even b&w ones, but some people like it as a tool to make the image more artistic. In my opinion, it takes away from the calming feeling in the picture, as noise creates excitement.
