Quick speedpaint (waaay less than an hour) as a self congrats for finishing a tattoo thing. :3 Well, we'll see how finished when the requester comes online, wot?Should I put fancy borders around my art? >.> A lot of people do.

I say very dramatic minimalism. The red feather things coming from the bird's head has a nice shading of red.
I can imagine fiery clouds and desert mountains in the background, the sun creating a blood red sunset.

Do you think art needs borders just because a lot of people do them?

I just think borders look pretty, but can't be bothered most of the time to see if it would suit the drawing in question. I guess I've never reaaally thought about it. >.> About now I must be a bit of a procrastinator or hypocrite or whatever you call it. Do people put borders on art simply because they think it makes it look more organized and prettier? Some people have the same border in almost their entire gallery.

I'd say that some people want to save the picture with a border (cause it has a wow border, its a good art? ha ha), its like using Lens Flare for the same reason. It looks good with good art, but it just cannot save bad art.
Sometimes a border can distract a viewer's attention from the picture (this is in what do people hope when making a border around a bad pic).
On this picture I'd really wont put any border, mmmmaybe just a plain black border - to FOCUS a viewer on the pic (way simple borders have this effect, thats why they're not used with bad art

That, is a very sound theory, and I'd have to agree with you. I've used a small black border on one or two of my pictures before, and I know what you mean by the effect. I haven't made it a habit to put one on everything though.
