Description
The Battle of Rocroi was a battle between France and the Spanish-Habsburg army on the 19 of may 1643, during the 30 years war. In early 1643, the spanish army crossed the border of france and laid siege to the small town of Rocroi, It was there French troops under Duc de d'Enghien marched to halt the advancing spanish troops.
The battle started with a Spanish advantage as multible cavalry and infantry attacks were repulsed by the spanish forces, However in mid of the battle, the spanish cavalry was chased off by the french and they were able to flank the spanish lines. They now attacked the spaniards habsburgan allies and forced them into retreat, leaving the spanish alone. But dispite several heavy artilerry bombardements and multible chavalry and infantry charges, the spanish troops held their line. It wasn't until the spanish accepted the french terms of surrender as the battle finally ended.
