Description Canada smothered his cake in brown-gravy and cheese. No one is really sure why, it's just a quirk he has.

They use maple syrup in the usual way, but poutine is pretty unique to Canada.

Is America using the Statue of Liberty like a toy space ship? This is odly cute though.

Do I sense some favoritism here? haha

Ooh, fun fact: the statue of liberty is made of copper, so it was a bronze color when France originally built it in America. The statue is green now because of oxidation (chemicals in the air form a green sort of film...lots of science stuff I can't explain).

Sorry, I'm such a nerd, but I had to share

I know, but I thought an orange pointy blob might not be as recognizable as a mint-green pointy blob... I do love me some art history.

It has a bright side! It means that eventually the Latino population is likely to be just as integrated and accepted as the Irish! Except for new imigrants or pocket communities like in Chicago that have deliberately stayed separated, nobody even notices Irish people anymore! They're just 'white' now!

And England's usual reputation for food ends at sweets, I think. He might be even better than America at piling sugar on top of sugar... 'This pudding isn't overpoweringly sweet enough! Quick, smother it in toffee and treacle!'

MaryEve28 In reply to Sand3 [2009-09-13 18:17:44 +0000 UTC]

They do a great roast beef... And fries, we call them 'French fries' for some reason, but the way Americans do them is after England... England also does some pretty awesome cheeses, the big culinary cruelty comes in when you get to the vegetables. The English absolutely *murder* vegetables. It's horrifying.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

MaryEve28 In reply to Sand3 [2009-09-14 19:46:35 +0000 UTC]

oooh.. that's why french call them roast beef XD everyone calls them french fries... well in english. in french it's frites. ah so England can make a good poutine lol (XD I must not teach that to foreigners... they will spoil it)

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Sand3 In reply to MaryEve28 [2009-09-15 20:08:05 +0000 UTC]

I don't know about poutine... That's Canada... I've never heard of such a thing coming from England.

MaryEve28 In reply to Sand3 [2009-09-15 20:51:22 +0000 UTC]

I know....it's french fries with sauce and cheese. but don't try to make one... it's 1) bad for the health and 2) it won't taste good if you don't use the ingredients correctly XD Poutines in Ontario (or in big cities) are the worst because of that.

Sand3 In reply to MaryEve28 [2009-09-16 19:15:59 +0000 UTC]

Oh god, it's like piling lard on top of crisco! No, I like my fries the american way, and Jack-in-the-Box now provides me with a year-round source of curly-fries! I don't even have to go to the fair!

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

MaryEve28 In reply to Sand3 [2009-09-17 00:25:52 +0000 UTC]

....it's like WHAT?!! XD

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Sand3 In reply to MaryEve28 [2009-09-18 04:32:41 +0000 UTC]

Taking something that's made of saturated fat and topping it with more saturated fat... And, and lard because the cheese and gravy are animal fat and crisco because the fries are cooked in vegetable fat! No, seriously, lots of logic went into this analogy. I'm full of logic. I make or break conversations with my logics.
