You could take a look at the works of Eytan Zana, who is simply amazing at this kind of style.

For me, it's even more impressive now that you showed you made a 3D model first! I think it shows you're giving importance to the underlying construction, and not making stuff up as you go along and hope it will fit somehowΒ Β (Sure, there are certainly people who know exactly what they're doing without a detailed construction, but hey...)
So: Thanks for sharing this!

oh this is really interesting!! for some reason, i'd never really considered that artists would use software like this - i thought it was all done by hand, but this makes a lot of sense & takes a lot of time off the process. thanks for sharing it !!Β

it's a model? O.oΒ
And I thought it would be a drawing ...

sandara In reply to Finsterdrache [2018-03-17 01:57:47 +0000 UTC]
This is a quick and fast way to paint. By blocking out the architectural elements first, you get the correct perspective and angle very easily. It's just a technique.

it is still a whole drawing? lol don't be dense. she uses the model here, yes, but it's used expertly and she still paints over and on top of it to complete the illustration.
don't make it seem like her using a 3D model takes away from the craft of this.

You likely have... It's done very often now, (manga, graphic novels, and book covers) and you would not know if the artist didn't show the process like this.

*makes a completely perfect 3D model* "This is... not a good model." like ya dont see newbies making models like that bruh u gotta like ur own art more
π: 0 β©: 2
Rojorana In reply to Darlaimerner [2018-03-17 22:52:22 +0000 UTC]
Of course it depends on what it will be used for, like here where it's only used as a base and going to be painted over, but I must agree with sandara that the model's not that good...
The final piece is a whole other matter though, really cool!
