I love how you did the details in this one, and how the colors compliment each other. Every time I use watercolors I have a hard time using them. I know you can't rush them, however I still have a problem with that. What's worse is the aspect of getting the colors to work well with each other is still new to me, especially since everyone stays away from black watercolors which I still use to add shadow and/or darker tones of color.Β

If you're painting shadows, don't use black as it is too strong.
Mix blue, umber and a small touch of red - it will give you either a warm grey or a cool grey depending on the amount of umber and blue you use.
